No closing date set, though "late July" is specified. This is to allow the cast to take care of prior commitments.

The article says through November 15th. Whether that is the closing date or the final performance for that cast is the question.
EDIT- Telecharge is selling through July 26th now instead of August 2nd.

Mr. Daniels said that the extended run of ?God of Carnage? could allow its producers to start rehearsing a new cast in October, and bring them in by Thanksgiving, after its current stars depart the show.

So there will be replacements? Or is he assuming.

Any thoughts on potential cast replacements?

EDIT- I think Elizabeth Marvel would be great as Veronica (Harden's role). Updated On: 6/2/09 at 04:13 PM

This is good to hear. I want to see it, but I just couldn't arrange it for my trip in 2 weeks.

Would love to see Cynthia Nixon in Harden's role. I think David Duchovney would be a natural for Daniels'.

Laura Linney would be stunning in Harden's role.

Someone like Cynthia Nixon, I think, is a much more appropriate fit in Davis's role.

Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

That's SO funny! When watching the play a few weeks ago I thought of replacements and how fantastic Cynthia Nixon and Laura Linney would both be in there. Maybe it's a sign...

Great news. It looks like it'll only be out for about 6 weeks, then re-open. They really should make it an open run if there'll be cast replacements.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

If there's nothing else chomping at the bit to open (and I haven't heard of anything dying for an August opening), I don't see why there couldn't have been some kind of deal worked out re. the theater.

Wow, I think it's a pretty ballsy move to have the show go on "hiatus." How neat and how great that the cast is so committed to the play that they are willing to return.
The playbill.com article says that Daniels mentioned the possibility of the producers rehearsing a replacement cast in October to keep the play running, so that'd be pretty fantastic.
I'm dying to see this play, I probably won't see it this summer but save it for a fall trip. So excited by this announcement.

Per Variety, the cast and Shubert Org. will be compensated during the hiatus. The box office will remain open.
