I *HIGHLY* doubt Krakowski would play this role under any director other than the one who led her to win an Olivier for it.
McAnuff could totally F up her interpretation.
I only want to see her performance as it was in the West End production.

I am surprised. I wish tha thought it was going to snatch the Neil Simon leaving the Nederlander for Hair. Dissapointment, but I will survive.

Agreed. A lot of the casting rumors were surrounding the transfer of the West End production, not this new incarnation. I was more excited for that version (with Jenna Russell reprising her role, but whatever).

Can't say that I'm interested in a Guys & Dolls revival, but I am super interested in seeing what a renovated Nederlander Theater looks like.

I like the idea of Platt... but I really can't wait to hear who will be playing the two leading ladies.

I would have thought that now that they had the option that Guys and Dolls would have gone into the Neil Simon. I say this because it is kind of a big musical in terms of sets and The Nederlander is very small. I would think that something like Hair would work better in The Nederlander rather then The Neil Simon.
That being said, if I recall correctly weren't there actors such as Hathaway and Patrick Wilson considered for this production when they were talking about bringing the Donmar production to Broadway? Didn't they have to back out because of some strike in Hollywood?

I would like Megan Mullally to be Adelaide :) She's got the comedic and vocal chops and already knows "Adelaide's Lament" because she auditioned with it to get Elizabeth in Young Frankenstein!

Mungo - I think Mullally would be perfect for Adelaide, but I'm kind of hoping that the reports of a Karen & Jack spin-off are true instead haha.

I heard mention of HAIR for the Neil Simon Theatre a while back and thought that information couldn't be right (my source kept saying, "No - those aisles! They want thhose long aisles! The hippies can run up and down those LONG AISLES!!"
I wasn't buying it.
But perhaps that rumour is true. A bad theatre choice but it could be so.

I think that if the cast of Hairspray could run down the aisles at the end of the show then I think that the cast of Hair could run down them during their show.

Anne Hathaway is a little too "hot" in films right now to put that momentum on hold for 6 months to a year to star in the umpteenth million Broadway revival of Guys and Dolls. I wouldn't count on that.
Aside from the fact that she would skew the cast on the younger side. If you're throwing around names like Deborah Messing (40) or Jane Krakowski (40), along with Oliver Platt (48 )... Hathaway (not yet 26) would make them all look like grandparents if she shared the stage with them in this show.

songanddanceman2, we just got a production of this show not that long ago. There really isn't a reason for there to be a new one. If it was the Donmar production then it would be different. But, seeing that it isn't I am iffy about this production. I will probably see it because I am curious about what the inside of the Nederlander would look post renovation. But, I don't know to be honest with you.

17 years counts as "not that long ago" now?

I wonder who will be the Sky Masterson? As I recall, Patrick Wilson isn't available (not sure about that). Maybe Cheyenne Jackson? John Lloyd Young (although I think his physique might work against him)? Matthew Morrison (not really my first choice)? Other thoughts out there?

Nice. He's perfect for it.

Sorry, Borstal Boy, which one were you referring to? I mentioned 4 (Wilson, Jackson, Young and Morrison). Just curious for your opinion, which I take seriously.

I meant Platt. Further casting should be interesting.

I'm actually expecting Hairspray to extend into March, so would Hair then open in May. What other theaters could Hair go into??
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
