Surprised this hasn't been pinned on any other website yet:
GUYS AND DOLLS at Nederlander Theatre with Oliver Platt, Opens March 1

Wow...Oliver Platt? Huh...
Thanks for posting.
Feb.3rd? I am so there to see this and Mary Louise Parker in HEDDA GABLER.
I think Oliver Platt is actually some pretty neat casting in the typical Nathan Detroit mold. Can't wait to hear the rest of the cast.
So now that the producers of HAIR lost their number one choice in the Nederlander, is it pretty safe to say they'll be opening at the Neil Simon? Oh, or the Lyceum...but I'd guess the Simon is the more practical choice for that show.

*sigh* the Nederlander...
Seriously if I could have one thing in the world it would be the Nederlander so I could make sure only funky shows went there and we wouldn't have to remodel it.
Oliver Platt sings?
OH THANK GOD!!! IT ISN'T CANCELED!!! Oliver Platt, I know I will get shot for this but I have only ever seen him play King in Ready to Rumble. Regardless, from that I think he can do Nathan.

So...two observations:
1. NY Times has contradicted itself? (Canceled, now opening?)
2. *edit for idiocy*

Why? Hairspray is at The Neil Simon & G&D is going to The Nederlander.

It's a bit late. The Nederlander was gutted by the end of the month.

The role of Nathan Detroit was written for Sam Levene, an actor who was totally tone-deaf. He spoke the few lines he had in his songs. Remember, in the actual show, Nathan only has solo lines in "Oldest Established" and "Sue Me". The singing was beefed up for Sinatra in the movie.
I was hoping for John C Reilly
Has Oliver Platt ever been in a Broadway musical? I didnt know he could sing
I LOVE the idea of Platt as Nathan. Nathan definitely doesn't have to be an ace singer. I'm really excited to hear the other cast members of the fab-4.
I'm betting that Anne Hathaway (sp?) will probably get Sarah.
Good casting, but I'm so uninterested in this revival. Will Guys and Dolls fans sign the outside of the Nederlander too? =)
They will probably have to hang RENThead repellent, to keep them from attempting to burn down the Nederlander.

Love it. Great casting.
Yeah, I agree about Hathaway. She'll probably be Sarah...maybe Krakowski as Adelaide? Even though she's filming 30 ROCK...but that's way less likely than Hathaway.
This should be interested to see how this develops...
AAH! Orangeskittles! Why!? Ignorance is bliss!
Well the theater was in horrible condition when Rent closed. A full scale renovation was inevitable.
Don't make me cry.
*sniffle*
I was really hoping to get the West End revival from a couple of years back.
Yeah, as others have said, Nathan Detroit requires very little singing at all. In fact, its almost better if Nathan isn't a great singer.
Oliver Platt is great casting. If Debra Messing and Anne Hathaway join him, this revival is going to be great.
I'm sure it wouldn't be too much of a stretch for Krakowski to do this show and film 30 Rock simultaneously. 30 Rock shoots in Queens.
She said that she would transfer with Damn Yankees if it did, so it is possible for her to do it if she is asked.
