What is going on with George Hearn in Wicked? Isn't that supposed to be a tenor role? I mean, not saying you can't get the same quality you can of a tenor from a baritone, but isn't the wizard supposed to be all "meek and mild" like? What do you think?
I dont know, but he is much better than Joel Grey was. *DUCKS*
Poor Joel - he had no idea what he was getting himself into - though I've heard that they reworked the song for George (poor George - so far superior to this show)
I was really disappointed with George. I prefered Joel Grey to him, but Sean McCourt was the best I've seen. (although he looks a bit young for it)

Personally, I loved George in the role. It was odd to not have him bounce around as much as Joel did during Wonderful, but I really, really enjoyed him as the Wizard. I loved the sound of his voice, and I just absolutely loved the way he interacted with Idina and Jennifer.
I never saw Sean, so I can't comment, but I've heard nothing but great things about him.
Sean McCourt is one of those actors you hope to see in many more shows to come having made such a splash in Bat Boy.

I didn't like George at all in the role. I really didn't like his voice singing the songs, but maybe its because I was used to Joel.
And yes, they added an extra verse at the very end of the song when George joined the cast. Nothing special, I don't even remember it, honestly. I do know Idina sang it with him
Robert Morse (from the San Fran previews) was THE BEST, hands down. he played the Wizard very well and naturally during his first scenes and during WOnderful as a tired confused man with a biteing sense of humor. Too bad he didn't take the job.
I really enjoyed George Hearn's performance. He really can sing, and seemed to be enjoying every moment up there. No complaints from me!

George Hearn really put me to sleep..He was kinda boring and since they had to like..lower all of his music a lot for him, it makes it a little less exciting. Just my opinion. I liked Joel Grey best.
Haven't seen him in 'Wicked', but the man is a legend.
One of the top twenty-five performers in B'way history. Easily.
