Get a screening pass for two at the below link. The pass, though, does not guarantee admission. The seating is limited to theatre capacity and is first-come, first-serve basis. They are from the official site so they should work. They are printable. Only 1 per person. Can not be auctioned or sold. All terms & conditions are on the printed screening pass.

My pass says it is for July 9th (at least the one in MN) On the main page it says July 16th, though.
Anyone else run into this date too?

Too much of a hassle to get there early and deal with the masses and blah-blah-blah...ALL just to see the film 4 days early?
Nah...thanks for the this, but like most -- I'll pass. I can easily wait till the weekend.

Yes, it's free -- which is why those 'free advance screenings' are overcrowded with hords of teenagers and why you need to get there early (it's first-come; first serve). The pass doesn't guarantee a seat. They give out more passes than the movie theater accomodates, so it gets crazy.
Did it once before -- never again. Not worth all that aggravation.
I'll wait the few extra days until the film officially opens, which is 4 days later.

That's a tough call. If the showtime is 7pm, I'd say 5pm. But, you never know. Major cities will obviously have a helluva lot more people than some minor cities, but that's a judgement call.
Good luck!

I meant one pass.

Posted: 7/3/07 at 10:51pmI've done these screenings before, and it is always 1 pass will get 2 people in. It depends on how popular the movie is and how large the venue is. I've also attended where they do 2 screenings, but don't tell anyone until you get there. When War of the Worlds came out people were lining up at 10am for a 7pm showing. Of course, had no problem getting into POTO which was done at the same theatre. Then again, people were being turned away for Rent, but that venue only held 100 people if that much. I'll be trying my luck in SF.

I never get why people complain about free stuff.
"Oh, I have to get there early? And there will be lots of people? And it's free? I'll pass."
Advance screening is advance screening...and it's freaking free! Stop complaining!
I love going to these screenings...getting there a bit early is sometimes half the fun. Even in Minneapolis it's never really necessary to get there more than an hour in advance -- although it all depends on the film/theater.
Those new MySpace Black Curtain Screenings are the ones that are nutso -- people camped out at 8am for an 8pm screening of Harry Potter.
Anyway...Hairspray...in advance...I'm there.
