Posted: 7/3/07 at 10:51pmI've done these screenings before, and it is always 1 pass will get 2 people in. It depends on how popular the movie is and how large the venue is. I've also attended where they do 2 screenings, but don't tell anyone until you get there. When War of the Worlds came out people were lining up at 10am for a 7pm showing. Of course, had no problem getting into POTO which was done at the same theatre. Then again, people were being turned away for Rent, but that venue only held 100 people if that much. I'll be trying my luck in SF.

I never get why people complain about free stuff.
"Oh, I have to get there early? And there will be lots of people? And it's free? I'll pass."
Advance screening is advance screening...and it's freaking free! Stop complaining!
I love going to these screenings...getting there a bit early is sometimes half the fun. Even in Minneapolis it's never really necessary to get there more than an hour in advance -- although it all depends on the film/theater.
Those new MySpace Black Curtain Screenings are the ones that are nutso -- people camped out at 8am for an 8pm screening of Harry Potter.
Anyway...Hairspray...in advance...I'm there.

Posted: 7/4/07 at 1:58amThe DC location is the Mazza out in NW - nice place (saw a preview of "Spirited Away" there), VERY overpriced tix usually so get it if you can. And since you can't stop the beat(ing of a dead horse), there's no preview in Baltimore.

Posted: 7/4/07 at 9:44amGot one for Denver. Will have to go right after work. They are not showing it downtown but a bit outside the city. But the theatre "complex" they are showing it at has a huge screen. I hope they are showing it on that one.

Like Dottie, it's not working for me.
I'm curious - did you guys put in your real address, etc... I'm very hesitant to do that since it's not something they really need to know.

Got tickets. Do you know if they show it in more than 1 theater per city? Lucky for me, the screening is at a theater less than a mile away from me. Do they just pick the closest theater to you based on your zip code?
I will definitely be trying to see it :).

Posted: 7/4/07 at 11:24amI think it is playing at just one theater in each area. I was hoping it would be at the theater complex in downtown Denver. But I can still get to the one that is showing it.

Posted: 7/4/07 at 4:11pmMy tickets came in the mail. It's at one of the 2,500 seat theaters downtown where the national tours play, so I think I should be fine for getting a seat.

Posted: 7/4/07 at 5:11pmDoes anone have any idea what a good time to show up in DC would be? There is no screening in Baltimore, so we may get some people coming down from there.

What do you mean you tickets came in the mail? The print-out from the website IS the ticket!

I think it is funny that on the bottom of the form where you select your favorite film genres, musicals is not an option....since that's what Hairspray IS!

Posted: 7/5/07 at 10:45amI didn't go to the website. I got advance passes through the theater where they are showing the film. They were actual tickets sent to me in the mail.

Posted: 7/5/07 at 11:08amI just tried it at work, and I was able to print out a pass. According to the pass I'm #26, but a friend of mine at work said she saw this on the news, so it will be interesting to see how many people show up.
