Girls & Boys - Minetta Lane

Anyone seen it? Worth it? I don't usually love solo shows, but kind of curious.

Could you or anyone else who's seen it expand on that a little? The ad for the show popped up when I first went to broadwayworld.com today and it looked intriguing -- though, admittedly, I tend to be an advertiser's dream mark. Still, curious to know more.

It's a play that's better when it's funny than when it's dramatic, it's hard to talk about it without spoiling it tho. It generalizes a bit too much on the point it tries to make and I felt like it gave it away poorly. Like, it momentarily raises an important question but then drifts aways on something else.

Sorry, I know it's generic, but it's really really hard not to spoil it. Try reading some London reviews.

Tonight ‘s show is canceled due to a minor injury. She’s doing the matinee though.

Does anyone know what happened to Mulligan? Apparently the injury occurred onstage...

I don’t know what happened but she is barefoot the entire show. She may have stepped on something. Just guessing, she wasn’t limping.

Looks like positives to raves across the board from critics reviews. I loved Mulligan in the Collateral mini-series on Netflix, so I may need to make time to see this.

I really enjoyed it but it's hard to talk about without spoiling it. Mulligan is incredible.

A little swash, a bit of buckle - you'll love it more than bread.

This was a revelatory experience. I left the theater emotionally gutted. Would emphatically recommend you see this over any currently running Broadway show save The Band's Visit.

Just saw tonight. Gut wrenching, but absolutely phenomenal.
I did rush, got side orchestra. It says on today tix that all rush seats are partial view but I don't feel like I missed anything.

Never had an interest to see a one-person show, but I think I'm sold on this one.

Girls & Boys - Minetta Lane

Had the chance to see this last Tuesday thanks to TodayTix's online rush. Sat in the mezz in the far right hand corner. Didn't realize it was a one-woman show until I was already watching. I went in blindly and the only thing I knew was that Carey Mulligan was starring in it, and that was enough for me as she is in some of my favorite movies (Never Let Me Go, Pride & Prejudice, An Education, The Great Gatsby, etc). Overall, I think i'm biased because I love her as an actress and her powerful acting. Its phenomenal what she is able to do with this material. I'm not even that crazy about the story, but she truly commands the stage and its an impressive feat. She came out after the show, signed and took pics!

If you want an intense night at the theatre, i'd say go see it. Definitely not for everyone though.

running time is 1 hr 45 min. about 25 minutes too long.

She's excellent. They play was terrible. I started fidgeting an hour in. It could have ended three different times... not exactly sure what the POINT was....

skip it. Harry Clarke was better.

Absolutely adored this the other night. I was fully engaged and on the edge of my seat the entire time. The play itself would be an awesome read I imagine, but seeing Carey Mulligan perform it the way she does is really magnificent. As someone who sees multiple shows a week, this is absolutely one I won’t soon forget. It’s not a tour-de-force experience, but it’s not one that calls for it. The control by everyone involved - writer, director, stage crew, performer - is so subtle, and so meticulous, it certainly reaffirmed my belief in one person shows, and their place in the theater canon.

If you’re a fan of theater and having trouble finding something to see (like I was), I do highly recommend it.
