GV was a million times better than Dracula. I refuse to accept that they would give up so fast.

Just a couple of questions:

BKLYN is now over the 100 regular performances

Is that enough episodes for a syndication deal?

It's our 2005 CARRIE

Didn't CARRIE have an ORIGINAL score?

PEACE.

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. It's too bad they didn't have an out-of-town tryout during the winter or spring so they could fix things and then plan a May/June opening. Sounds like it would have been a good show for a summer opening given its theme and the high tourist season.

I'm not sure what is worse, the book for this musical or the fact someone posted second hand news regarding the closing of a show before all the actors and crew were informed.

Playbill said they called in a play doctor, someone to fix up what isn't working. That is NEVER a good thing, means there are major issues.

Too bad, too bad. What can you do?

This news is a bunch of gossip. How do we know it is true.
Hope it is fixed.
The woman who played Caroline was wonderful as was the entire cast. It is a lot of fun. It put me in a good mood.
With some work it really could appeal to kids and tourists.

Enough with the presumptions about what could appeal to tourist. Are you a tourist? (See how a question is punctuated with a question mark?) And tourist are not what keeps any show going at this time of year.

Rest in peace, Iflitifloat.

i'm not surprised the clips of 'good vibration's' on tv like this morning on 'today show' the singers don't sound too good to put it mildly!

i love the 'beach boy's' and i was hoping this show would have enough story and talent to really make a fun musical !

The workshop at Vassar showed some Promise!

I do know that Many fans from many Boards were posting they got Refunds to ' Good vibrations' once Justin Guarini took another offer and decided to leave the show during rehersals i guess!

quite a few fans were being given Refunds and i am sure that did Not help sales either dishing out a ton of refunds!

from what i have heard about the Workshop to 'good vibrations' that Justin Guarini was the only one that had the Energy and showed Star quality on Stage yet he was Not even a lead...

'Good vibration's has a good concept we all love the Beach boys Music it's better then Bill Joel music come on! so the Producers did Not take the time to find the Talent they need and the show seemed to Rush together too fast in my opinion how can you put a great show together in two months? to me that is impossible..

I love the Beach boys, and I think Justin Guarini is very talented & he did a great job in the workshop, he can dance, sing and act..too bad Justin decided to leave this show for another offer, i do think Justin could have brought some Fun energy to Broadway! so it's too bad this show could not pull it's act together!

some guy not sure of his name, i heard singing this morning on the today show from 'good vibration's was a poor Singer cute guy but could not sing?? not sure of his name he was singing 'calif girls' very poorly i might add!

best of luck to them all i hate to see people lose their jobs not fun really!.. Updated On: 1/27/05 at 01:15 PM

Clang, clang, clang went the trolley,
Ding, ding, ding went the bell,
Zing, zing, zing went my heart strings,
From the monent I saw him I fell.
Chug, chug, chug went the motor,
Bump, bump, bump went the brake,
Thump, thump, thump went my heart strings,
When he smiled I could feel the car shake.
He tipped his hat, and took a seat.
He said he hoped he hadn't stepped upon my feet.
He asked my name, I held my breath.
I couldn't speak because he scared me half to death.

Chug, chug, chug went the motor,
Pop, pop, pop went the wheels,
Stop, stop, stop went my heart strings,
As he started to go then I started to know how it feels,
When the universe reels.

The day was bright, the air was sweet,
The smell of honeysuckle charmed you off your feet.
You tried to sing, but couln't squeak,
In fact you loved him so you couldn't even speak.

Buzz, buzz, buzz went the buzzer,
Plop, plop, plop went the wheels,
Stop, stop, stop went my heart strings,
As he started to leave,
I took hold of his sleeve with my hand,
And as if it were planned,
He stayed on with me and it was grand just to stand
With his hand holding mine to the end of the line.

Like a sad 'deja vu'.On 12/31/04...the same day that you joined this board...you posted the following thread-
https://forum.broadwayworld.com/readmessage.cfm?thread=666582&boardname=bway
Your sole purpose that day was to trash Good Vibrations. Here you go again.
If I had a friend in a Broadway Show...I would certainly be praying that everyone involved did their absolute best...and that the show was a big success. You start pools to see who can correctly guess the closing date.
You say that your friend is aware of this and hates it also...Why doesn`t your friend get out of the show.Take all his or her NEGATIVE energy with them...and let the people who are there try to make it a success.Like bringing a show to Broadway is not enough of a daunting task.A process that takes years and 1000`s of hours of hard work by so very many people.I have not seen Good Vibrations.Do not know if i will. But I have and will see again 'many' times...All Shook Up.Another one of the ...'dreaded ...broadway dooming ...JUKEBOX MUSICALS...
The ones that are for 'tourists'...or as some have been saying...Loooooowered Expectations...Give me a break.
I do not have Lowered Expectations.I do not consider myself a tourist.I do LOVE Broadway...ALL DIFFERENT TYPES OF SHOWS...
Last year my daughters and i attended 35 performances...on Broadway...Am I rich...NO...work two jobs to be able to do with my daughters the things that we LOVE doing.Have seen many different types of shows over the years...Many types...Loved almost everyone...
Thank god that there are so many different types of shows. That appeal to so many different people.
If Les Miz...was in every theatre...I would imagine that Broadway business would be way down.Even the 'non'tourists would I imagine get a little tired of it...(except Hairspray...that could be in every theatre... Good Vibrations , But I know ...you all do not think that that is 'REAL'Theatre either.
The negativity on this board has just been reaching record heights...
EVEN PEOPLE LIKE ADDY...have so very sadly LEFT... Good Vibrations .I for one can hardly stand it...What an incredible ray of sunlight she was...Now she is gone...Because of some of the just plain mean spirited people who have taken up...space...on this board.
MargoChanning I have never interacted with you in any way shape or form. But I have read your posts.Your comments...Your thoughts...for quite some time now.Do not always agree with them...but i 'respected them'.You should be ashamed of how you have talked of GV...You with all of your wisdom...Past and present...of all things Broadway...should be the one telling people to quit being so negative...To give each and every show a chance to make it.You know more then most what has gone into every show that has ever had a curtain go up...and down.
Not every show is for everybody. That does not make it bad.just not for ...some.What has happened to 'the glass being half full'.
I`m afraid to post of my love for things..because people without feelings...and brains in many cases...are just waiting to pounce on it and me...and tell me how wretched something is in their opinion...Can not people be allowed to feel good about things?
Eddie Varley was on the last thread...here he is saying the same thing...GIVE IT A CHANCE!!!
Why do people just have to spit venom...
Even some of the youngest posters...start threads with a persons name...and then when you click on it...it says ..."They Are Horrible"...We are apparently teaching are youngest people ...that that is the way to be.vile and unfeeling.
All those people that you trash...are real live human beings. They hurt...they feel...they cry.Their pain is so real.
They have friends and family....Thats it.

Yo Scott, When did you get your badge? Is it your intention to clean up dodge? Look this is an open forum. We post opinions here. Please do not try to stomp on my rights to free speech. Why does it matter that I joined this forum and started a thread the same day. Is there a waiting period? It is called participation. Go see this show before it closes and then post your own opinion. I am not asking you to agree with me. Just who died and left you BOSS. I am a big Brian Wilson fan. Brian deserves better and my friend in the show agrees with me. By the way I went to see Wicked last week and loved it.

Nobody said you couldn't post opinions here, it's just passing them off as facts that's questionable. You already have one strike against you since you claimed that GV was rushed to Broadway to beat out that other play. Wrong. Riedel reported in the Post, "According to production sources, unless the Dodgers brought"Good Vibrations" to Broadway by Dec. 20, 2004, they would have lost the rights to the Beach Boys' catalogue. " So naturally, some are going to be skeptical of any further 'facts' you claim.

Let's wait till the end of february and see if I am trying to pass this off as fact or if it is fact. Fact is not fact until it happens. I did say that they are waiting to see the reviews. So no announcement will be made until after the opening. Hey they could turn it around. I was passing on information which I received. Take it or leave it. It is all the same to me.

Why is your friend remaining with the show if he finds it so distastful? I think leaving would be a more honorable (and safer) route than endorsing a friend announcing the show's demise on a message board before any offical reviews. My experience tells me that creating such negative buzz can also be harmful to the perception of the cast members' performances.
It strikes me as odd that he would promote such a risk for himself and his fellow castmates.

tommyboyz,
Checked out your so called reliable information. And IF it's closing, which is highly unlikely, it was in no way announced to the cast. So either your friend is a total liar OR you are. To bad you have nothing better to do with your time then to start rumors. You're building up a ton of bad Karma, so sad for you.
