A friend in the industry says there’s a transfer of the Goodman’s current production of Holiday in the works, with some A-listers assuming the lead roles. Anyone else hear this?
Last year, there was a one night reading in NY featuring David Corenswet. It’d be quite a get if they could secure him to reprise (presuming he’s available and interested). He’s got a theater background.

I wouldn't be surprised if it does, it is the last play of Richard Greenberg I believe. I saw it a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it. He's updated the setting to now and it's not the zany madcap romance of the film it's based on. It actually feels like a long episode of succession, but if some of the characters actually had a heart and cared. The set design is fabulous and Chicago cast is fantastic. If it does transfer I'm sure they will replace quite a few of them with bigger names, however I really hope they keep Chicago actress Bryce Gangel as Linda. It was my favorite performance in the show and she just shines. It also make a great star is born broadway performance.
It's a lovely play and a lovely production (with a really terrible lead performance). Wesley Taylor and Molly Griggs are both exceptional in roles that might appear thankless in other hands. They need a magnetic star in the Katherine Hepburn part if they're planning to transfer. They don't grow on trees. Still, if they found one... I think it would be really something. It's also a role that a semi-capable actress without a lot of charisma could knock outta the park in her sleep.
It's not selling well at Goodman, for the record. It got lovely reviews but the tickets aren't moving... for whatever reason.
One thing that's sort of... I don't know... odd... is that it is VERY much a new play. The way it's currently billed makes you think you're going to see something that is not being offered. If they could figure that out... I think it would sell a lot more tickets.
I'm glad to hear somebody liked her performance. At a late preview I thought she was very obviously out of her depth. Looked GORGEOUS in her costumes tho. She was a Chicago actress... she did a brief stint here and moved to LA with her husband some time ago.

no
I saw it last week at a matinee that was very well close to sold-out. I think I went in thinking it would be a light rom-com kind of vibe, but it was totally not. Very Succession and dealing with real topics like addiction, etc. Gorgeously staged. I could see this doing well at Roundabout or MTC.

Like a lot of Goodman shows, it has been on TodayTix with 25-40% discounts whenever I have checked. Maybe that is just part of their sales approach at this point.
They have a terrific day of rush on their website. Usually get tickets for about $20.

It is... but this particular production is also it's not selling well. I'm not sure why... sounds like a smash on paper and the production itself is pretty swell.
