The Opening Number: A-, it was entertaining, but I would have rather seen all the shows perform, like last year. Also, the last part of it felt like a Green Day concert.
Ragtime: A, it was really great, but it was just too short. The song really needs to build to give it the great power that it has
Fela: B-, it was fine, but it failed to keep my attention for the whole thing. It did not make me want to see the show
Come Fly Away: B, The dancing was great, but I'm just not a big Sinatra fan.
Promises, Promises: B+, This also had great dancing, but I would have liked to have heard some singing, although this was just for the choreography award. I didn't like how they just had Sean Hayes there to sit at a desk
Million Dollar Quartet: B, They had great energy, but I just don't like the music. I think that the performance will help sell tickets
Memphis: A-, I thought this was really good, except I didn't really "get" this song. I think it must work a lot better in context
La Cage aux Folles: A, This number was great, and Douglas Hodge was hilarious, especially with Matthew Morrison, but I just wish they chose a song with a faster tempo to keep the excitement moving
A Little Night Music: B, I liked this performance, but Catherine Zeta Jones's head just kept annoyingly twitching. I also wish that they had Frederik's monologue.
American Idiot: A, I was really happy with their performance. It made me hope for them to win the Best Musical award. My one problem is that I can never understand what that cast is singing!

I think that if they could give "Ragtime" a "30 second" spot, that they could have given "Finian's Rainbow" the same chance. I don't think it would have changed the show at all.
And I agree that at the end of the opening number seemed like a Green Day concert. I couldn't wait for it to be finished!

The Opening Number: B. Sound fails really killed it for me.
Ragtime: A. She sounded absolutely amazing. Much better than when I saw her live.
Fela!: A. I love Fela. They showed so much of the show, and I really enjoyed it.
Come Fly Away: B+. Showcased a lot of wonderful dancing.
Promises, Promises: C. Terrible. Looked so stupid.
Million Dollar Quartet: B. Made it look even more like a Jersey Boys rip off.
Memphis: B. Eh... it was good, but, it was too much "watch our choreography!!"
La Cage aux Folles: B+. Really, really fun.
A Little Night Music: D. Catherine sounded absolutely awful.
American Idiot: C+. I love this show, but the performance was totally wrong for tv.

Honestly, the two best performances of the night were probably from Lea Michele and Matthew Morrison.
I loved last year's opening number, but this year's was a big bore. The only performance I really liked from nominees this year was probably La Cage. Everything else was either not a good representation of the stage show (Fela , ALNM), or a good representation of a bad show.

I enjoyed the "Ragtime" performance and the Choreography performance for "Promises, Promises".
Matthew Morrison was very good. Lea Michelle seemed to be a bit behind the music unless it was just t he sound. Once again, CBS did a poor job with the sound.

"Honestly, the two best performances of the night were probably from Lea Michele and Matthew Morrison."
Morrison was quite good, as always. If Michele was indeed using this as a public audition for FUNNY GIRL, I wouldn't cast her. No heart. And that wrist tattoo is very unsightly.

Posted: 6/14/10 at 12:10amI loved Matthew Morrison's performance of "All I Need is the Girl", but I didn't like how in "Don't Rain on My Parade", they did the same blocking as on Glee. There's a gigantic stage in front of you for a reason! Use it!

While Morrison & Michele performed well, I give an "F" to the cynical reason two people who had no roles on Broadway this season were prominently featured. They were Broadway stars two years ago--why weren't they given numbers then? Oh, they weren't stars of cult TV shows then? Gimme a break--this isn't the Emmys; it's the Tonys. At least have them sing something relating to this season, less than mediocre as it was.
I liked the opening number (although the sound was abysmal) AMERICAN IDIOT and Sean Hayes's shtick, even the silly stuff. And of course the Hayes-Chenoweth liplock rejoinder to Newsweek--that was funny. Those get "A"; LA CAGE a B, and the rest an average C.
I liked Hayes as host, but bring back Hugh Jackman!

A+ to Christiane Noll and Sherie Rene Scott (though the Everyday Rapture performance was a little ruined by sound issues, and Back to Before was cut in half), A to Matthew Morrison, B+ to La Cage, D to F for everything else.
I didn't really get why Matt Morrison and Lea Michele performed though, much as I enjoyed the former's singing and dancing.

The Opening Number-D-It could have been more exciting.
Ragtime-A
Fela!-D
Come Fly Away-B-
Promises, Promises-A
Million Dollar Quartet-F-Complete snoozefest.
Memphis-B+
La Cage aux Folles-C
A Little Night Music-F-Catherine Zeta-Jones should be embarrassed for that performance, and so should the producers of Night Music.
American Idiot-C
Glee performance(s)Matt gets an A, while Lea gets a B.

Wait, I thought Ragtime sounded awful. Like REALLY bad.
The Opening Number: B+ (WAY better than last year's)
Ragtime: C-
Fela!: D
Come Fly Away: C
Promises, Promises: B
Million Dollar Quartet: A- (say what you will, but musically their performance was the best show performance of the night)
Memphis: C+
La Cage aux Folles: C+
A Little Night Music: C (She's done it way better; she was clearly sick)
American Idiot: C+
Glee performance(s): Matt gets a B-, while Lea gets a big F. SOOOOO pitchy and not with the music. She was by far the worst of the night.

I'd go beyond an F and just have them all expelled.
Why didn't Finian's perform? I know Baldwin flew in at the last minute but certainly she or Fitzgerald or Jackson could have represented the production with a short moment from the show (especially since Ragtime was represented).

The Opening Number: C (no major problems, nothing extraordinary)
Ragtime: A (great song, great actress)
Fela!: C (pretty lackluster, especially considering the material)
Come Fly Away: B (good highlight of choreography)
Promises, Promises: B (despite how creepy Sean Hayes looked just sitting there)
Million Dollar Quartet: D (sound issues, not the fault of the cast)
Memphis: C (boring performance of a boring show)
La Cage Aux Folles: B (entertaining, but bad song choice)
A Little Night Music: D (she must be sick, it's the only explanation)
American Idiot: B (gave the fans what they wanted)
Glee: A and D (Matt was awesome, but Lea embarrassed herself)
