Nice... she makes weird faces.
"The stage is where I live and come alive and act out all the things that go on in my life. It's not just what I do for a living, it's my shrink and my love affair. No one in my life has ever or ever will kiss me on the mouth like this lover called my relationship with my performance."

re: Great WICKED clip

I didn't really like this video clip..it's too short and I thought it wasn't good because..I don't know. It just bothered me. You all saw it performed at the Tony Awards..right? I mean-it was basically the whole song.. Speaking of which-was Idina like REALLY nervous when she performed? I talked about it with some of my friends-and they said they thought she probably was too. I have it on my computer-so I've watched it several times. If you haven't seen it, send me an IM at ParksM4 and I'll send it to you. (Defying Gravity from the Tony Awards)

I liked the clip. I wish she sounded like that when I saw her lol

re: Great WICKED clip

That is an interesting clip to watch, but Idina's voice is just ghastly. She has trouble hitting the higher notes and is yelling a bit (I hadn't noticed that before), and she sounds really hoarse. Rest your voice, girl.

re: Great WICKED clip

When did they film that and why don't they film the whole show (well they would had to have already, but you know...). And I know that wasn't filmed during the show because the arrangement was different, but they should have filmed it because, whether you like Wicked or not, that clip was AMAZING quality.

re: Great WICKED clip

Hitting the HIGHER notes? Those notes she is expected to hit are like..FREAKISHLY high. Most girls can't go ANYWHERE near that high I mean-without going falsetto-that's AMAZING. She belts it sooo much. Doing that so much must be really hard on her voice.

But anyway-am I the only person who is in awe from Idina's voice?

re: Great WICKED clip

I REALLY hope they have recorded Wicked. In another post, I said that they should (or should have) recorded Wicked and then sell it on DVD. They could make a lot of money doing it. (Like Into The Woods) What do yall think?

re: Great WICKED clip

Just kidding, that clip could totally be from a performance of the show. I just watched it again and it's blatantly 2 different sections and audio segment - that don't exactly match up. Nonetheless it could be from a performance, so that's cool.

And they will make a FORTUNE if they taped it.

re: Great WICKED clip

i'm guessing that they just filmed her, and then added in segments of the backup parts (there is no jump in the not she's holding when it goes from kristin to the guards in the background)

re: Great WICKED clip

Yeah, this is the SanFran version (no riffs, hair down, etc.) But I think Idina's "Me Down" in this clip is the best I have ever heard it. It is crystal clear, and not muddled by tons of riffs.

re: Great WICKED clip

i agree with what you said about the "me down"...amazing, finally her classical training shines through through this part....i love idina's voice, but osmetimes the riffs get in the way of the singing a bit...love this little exception

re: Great WICKED clip

Her voice sounds like it cracks a little on "Defying gravity", but that doesn't change the fact that the clip is fantastic. It does sound weird at the end - it's like, "No one mouurrgot to bring her down!"

re: Great WICKED clip

She was trained in "speech-based" singing. She's not a classically trained singer.

re: Great WICKED clip

Actually, zoran912, she trained classically first.

"At that time, I was studying classically with Mr. Arnold but found myself wanting to listen to and imitate R&B singers: Aretha, Chaka Kahn, Etta James and the list goes on."
