When I first read this article, I was highly confused. Now I'm just more along the lines of "umm.. Why?"

Is he just gonna sit on the stage? What are they going to do with him?

I think they are doing well, but it's like the saying goes Coke spends more on advertising than anyone else even when they're number 1 by far.
It keeps them in the press and people talking. Hamilton has sold every seat released in two cities but is still on buses, ya know?

Yea this was my question after I read this. Not sure how they're going to incorporate this cat in a way that this would bring any added value to the show. Not like people are going oh thank goodnesss for grumpy cat! Now I must see this show!
Funny, I never knew Grumpy cat was a female cat. I've always assumed it was male.
I agree with Jordan Catalano that this is a very desperate ploy to generate publicity and in my opinion it diminishes the show and relegates it to a mere gimmick.
This smacks of something the Weisslers would pull.
I can't wait to hear about the backstage diva fights between Grumpy Cat and Leona Lewis.
I can't stop laughing.

Hopefully it's little more than being present on stage for the intermission photo ops.

I'm sure Barry saw the news and was kicking himself for not thinking of it first. Grumpy Cat in Mary Sunshine's purse...brilliant.

Hilarious! I might have to see this now just to see how she'll be implemented. I wish them the best of luck in this endeavor.
Though I do hope what they really mean is they'll have an actor representing Grumpy Cat on the stage, like a costume done up to look like Grumpy Cat. If it's an actor playing Grumpy, here's hoping Nathan Lane will take the role sometime in the future.
I am really hoping that it is is something like what Oak2 described - because for goodness sakes, this is a cat not a freaking prop.

It's only for one performance, tomorrow, if that helps calm anyone's fears.

It's fascinating, living in Australia [and having travelled extensively and lived elsewhere for periods during my 70 years] I know NOTHING about nor have read or seen anything about this 'cat' or person, nor show any interest in 'googling' to find out more about this creature[person].
I would go see Cats as long as I didn't have to listen to Memory or Send in the Clowns[who cares-I KNOW it's in another show !] ever again.

Edited to make others happy--that's my aim in life now--won't happen, and those Pearly Gates will be well rusted by the time I get there[if ever].
I'm gonna take a guess that it will probably be some stupid walk on during the Naming of Cats or something like that. Not gonna lie, if I didn't have to work until 5, I would go. I don't work near the city.

Well, neither song is in CATS so you're safe.
BAHAHAHAHA
You guys are being too harsh. She once understudied Dick Whittington's cat!
LOL
Just seen the pictures and that Cat is adorable and I dislike cats but love the show-go figure.
