Gypsy, Cellphones, and Stage doors

My friends and I saw Gypsy last night and it was absolutely wonderful! Patti Lupone and Laura Benanti had such wonderful chemistry! But anyway, during Rose's Turn, I was waiting for my favorite part, "Every thing's coming up Rose! Every thing's coming up Rose's this time for me!" and then a girl in my row pulled out her cellphone and started taking picture after picture of Patti Lupone! It was so distracting! Then, during the scene right after rose's turn a cellphone started going off, and it just wouldn't stop! I was so angry! Finally, at the stage door, we were waiting for Ms. Lupone to come out and I heard the people behind me talking about all the woman who played Rose. According to them, this was the first revival since the original Gypsy opened. They also were talking about how good Idina Menzel would be as Mamma Rose and how when Bernadette Peters gets older she should also play Mamma Rose. It was extremely funny to stand and listen to them!

Yeah, she came out after about 30 minutes, but no pictures.

I was at that same performance. Where were you sitting because I didn't hear a cell phone after "Rose's Turn." Though there was a strange high pitching whining noise that occurred for a while during the first act. I thought it may have been some kind of interference.

I saw the show last Saturday and during Everything's Comin' up Roses, there was a flash picture and Patti flipped. She was glaring the nastiest glares during the remainder of the song. You were able to hear her storm off the stage as soon as the curtain went down and the people were thrown out right away.

I was talking to the mother of Balloon Girl [haha, what a sweet lady] after the show and she said that Patti told her that the people taking the pictures could be sitting in the balcony and she will stare until she finds them and tell the ushers exactly where they are sitting.

She doesn't mess around, that Lupone.

Some key points I wanted to make-

1) Idina Menzel would suck as Rose. By the time she reaches that age, her voice will likely be gone due to missuse anyway.
2) Isn't Bernadette older than Patti?
3) First revival, eh stupid Eydeenuh-fangurls? What about Angie and Tyne and Bernadette? First revival indeed.
4) Long live LuPone!

Patti has said that she is the oldest Rose. So no, Bernadette is not older than her. At least, she wasn't when she played Rose.

I thought Bernadette looked young as Rose. But she is older than Rose. How old should Rose be?

Rose should be old enough to spawn a stripper, I guess. Bernadette's in the region of 60, but she REALLY doesn't look it. O_O
