Meanwhile, perhaps some of this board can spend the next month and 1/2 discovering that Gypsy existed and was a wonderful show long before LuPone stepped into the role.

BobbyBubby-
A lot of people know the show is wonderful. And while yes, I do encourage them to pick up other copies of the score, I wouldn't discourage them from this one at all.

What's with all the Time Life hate? We should be encouraging them to continue producing CDs. In a field that already doesn't recieve many recordings, we should be pleased with anything, and the fact that Time Life has produced two terrific recordings (I've yet to hear Ring of Fire) and has what is promising to be another terrific, should make us esctatic beyond belief.

I thought Annie was superb. I may not have been a tremendous fan of the cast, but it sounds fantastic, and is incredibly well mixed.

This may be a "agree to disagree" topic.

I think it's a terrific album. I'm enjoying the hell out of it, myself.
Begin at the beginning and go on till you come to the end: then stop.

"BobbyBubby-
What is this hate-on you have for Time Life?"

Maybe, just maybe, he doesn't like the CD? Just a thought. And his hate doesn't begin to touch you and H. Higgins, who are clearly here for very obvious reasons. I visit many threads about many cast recordings and you know not one of them talks ad nauseum about how brilliant the producer of the recording is. They talk about the music, the cast, the quality - so, you know, we get it. You are friends with or are Mr. Sher. Mr. Sher is a very nice chap, and he really doesn't need the cheerleading, either his own or his friends. He should just do his good work and get on with it, and let others post their feelings.

Now, if H. Higgins or Husk Charmer attacks me, we'll know for sure :) Or if tdl83 shows up to attack, then we'll know for sure :)

Thanks for revealing this HUGELY kept secret. I mean NO ONE knew that bk was me! Damn! Now everyone knows! Holy moley on rye, whatever shall I do? Happily, I'm one of the only people on this "board" that doesn't hide under a cloak of anonymity. And I'm jiggy with that.

I often talk of my love for Thomas Z. Shepard. I like that he includes a lot of dialogue with his recordings allowing the listener to feel like they are experiencing a complete piece of theatre instead of just hearing songs. Robert Sher could take a lesson from Thomas and listen to the Jay David Saks Gypsy and see where he went wrong.
