This will be one of the rare times I disagree with you. Modern DVDs look remarkable and with all the compression that goes on with streaming they can even be better than streaming in 4k (which isn't actually 4k by the time they compress it to hell).

I’ve never understood the appeal of 4K. It just looks distractingly odd to me. Bring back 8mm.

This is assuming they were ever really 4k to begin with. Some 4k blu-rays are just upscales of 2k masters.

We probably are in agreement, I just need to be a bit clearer: I collect physical media so I always choose a disc over streaming. I have well over 800 physical films in my collection. So I definitely, 100% prefer Blu Ray and 4K over DVD. I would never purchase a DVD today unless no other option was available. For me, purchasing a DVD while there is a Blu or 4K disc available is a total waste of money. It would be like buying a cassette over a CD. You’d be better off spending the money on a 4K player for future releases.

@slope I notice the audio difference more than the video difference with 4K stuff.
