HAMILTON Set for Chicago Sit-Down; Likely Eventual National Tour — Page 3

How did this thread get so derailed, isn't it meant to be about the set for the Chicago production?

He's given us more than enough. When new performers come into the role, we will gladly go see them--and I'm sure they will be magnificent!--but those of us who saw him play the role he wrote and composed will remember that for the rest of our lives and count ourselves lucky to have seen him do it.

He is a very hands-on parent and has discussed that in the past. His child is about 12 or 13 months old. There's no way he goes out of town for multiple months, unless they're ALL prepared to temporarily move.

We all read the exact same articles you do.

Almost all evolved men are hands on parents now.....this is not unique.
And I would expect his family to go with him.
I would love the news about Javier taking over in July to be true. (Nothing against Lin, but by the time I see the show in July, I'll have [most likely] have already seen him twice. I do love me some understudy/alternate/replacement action.)

His wife holds a full-time position at her family's business.

I don't consider the thread derailed by a bigger-picture casting discussion, since subsequent companies and their chosen talent are pertinent to an announcement of the first alternative to B'way. My point was in the spirit of PalJoey's: Mr. Miranda has written an extraordinary role for the musical theater, ultimately a defining one. It's thrilling to consider the young actors in every part of the US who will have their shot at this glorious part. The fact that it will be passed to young Latinos/men of color, as Miranda himself noted (and I paraphrase his recent interview) otherwise offered only a handful of roles in WSS, one in CHORUS LINE, and Don Quioxte, is a great celebratory moment. And we're not even onto Burr, Washington, and Lafayette/Jefferson. This is a show that has changed casting, and opportunity. Every time I hear Odom tear into "Wait for It" or Diggs rap "Washington on Your Side" I feel that change.

I've changed the name of the thread to suit everybody's complaints. Sorry about that! It's what the TheaterMania article alluded to and I wanted to get it up ASAP ![]()

She's actually a lawyer at a large international law firm. But yeah, she can't necessarily just pick up and go. Her firm does have an office in Chicago so it's not outside the realm of possibility I suppose but it's also not a given she can simply relocate for a year depending on her practice.

I bet she's the bread winner.

CTF if you don't spend much time on the off-topic board you might not know Liza's Headband knows everything. Even when he doesn't. And when it is clearly pointed out he doesn't, he abandons posting in that particular thread and then goes and knows everything in another thread.
Thinking about long-term casting of this show in the various tour and sit down permutations, I do worry about the RENT effect... which Jeffrey Seller also produced. I saw the OBC and many stops of the first and second national tour (I got around a lot back then), and it kind of evolved into a sort of American Idol show. Almost like a concert presentation by singers who turned the small triumphs in the script into their personal victories of scoring a job in the show. But who knows. Larson wasn't around to keep things in line, like Bennett was with his landmark musical. So, basically, I hope Miranda has enough time to keep things up to snuff while also quickly creating another masterpiece!

LOL I had changed the title to HAMILTON (inside the thread) while ago, but your new title makes more sense!

I bet both of them earn sizeable enough incomes that the notion of either of them being a "bread winner" is thoroughly inaccurate.

I read when London run was announced that Lin said he promised his wife living in oversea for a while (I think he referred to London), so I assume when London production opens, Lin, his wife, and the child will live there during his stay. She may take a leave of absent. So considering he'll star in the London production, I have a feeling he may take a break after he leaves Broadway rather than starring in Chicago unless he gets a huge contract to do a limited engagement in Chicago like 4-6 weeks. I hope he'll take a break but "Maaaaaan, he is Non-stop!"

Can you add "Soundtrack probably to be sold at merch table"?

"She's actually a lawyer at a large international law firm."
if that's true, then the firm more likely than not has an office in Chicago, which she can easily work from if her husband decides to appear in the Chicago production.

OMG he's going to appear in the Chicago production!!

From this article http://www.chicagotribune.com/entertainment/theater/news/ct-hamilton-tour-launch-chicago-story.html
'Casting has yet to be determined. But Miranda, also the show’s lead on Broadway, is not expected to be in the cast.'

'Of the potential move across the Atlantic, Hamilton’s creator and star Lin-Manuel Miranda said: “We’re hoping it will happen sooner rather than later. My wife is always trying to get me to other countries so I would be honoured to open the show in London.”'

Do we know when his last show in Chicago will be?

That's racist. And in a Hamilton thread of all places.

This has the exact formula that Book of Mormon laid out. A Chicago "open-run" starting in Sept. 2016. Likely a 1st National tour starting in Spring 2017. Whenever the demand in the Chicago runs starts to fade, the Chicago production will turn into the 2nd National tour. I'd guess and say the Chicago "open-run" last about a year or so, which would give LMM time to open up a London production in the Fall of 2017.

I don't see why either Lin or Javier would leave Broadway just to do the same production in Chicago. The Chicago production will get more than capable actors and I'm sure the original cast will eventually want a break from the role.
If they launch another production/tour on the west coast, it would let them take advantage of the hype and minus the south, they would have a homebase in each US region.
I wouldn't assume that Lin is going to open the London production. While he does seem interested, it's two years off and he's a busy guy.
