I have high hopes.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Though it's just a trailer it looks pretty decent and why I probably won't be able to sit through it. Both times I saw the revival on Broadway I practically had to be carried out of the Theatre. Living through this nightmare was bad enough, watching friends die and yelling at hospital workers who wouldn't even touch my friends who were sick, and going to more funerals and memorial services than a young man should have to changed me forever. To see it portrayed more realistically will probably kill me. And it's the reason I never went to see LONGTIME COMPANION. I hope the movie educates and moves young and old people to see what AIDS and the government's and society's ignorance in dealing with the epidemic did to a generation of gay men. Damn, now I'm gonna cry again.

Well I will say that the play is one of my favorites of all time and that I have an incredible amount of faith in HBO considering their almost pristine track record with series and movies. I am looking foreword to this very much, but I wouldn't exactly say that I am excited because of the heavy subject matter. Looks incredible though.

Oh curtain, it's probably wise of you to avoid seeing it. I saw it on Broadway and it was absolutely amazing, so hopefully this movie version will be decent enough to match that play.
What ever happened to Barbra's version of this? Why was Murphy able to do it before Barbra?

Watching that trailer...choking back tears...I was only 13 when AIDS reared it's ugly head. I knew I was gay...and I was scared, not because I would get sick because I wasn't even sexually active (with guys) yet, I was scared because if I ever did it would mean a death sentence and that's the way it was presented in the media at the time - - - and it pushed me in the closet. So watching this trailer brought all those feelings I felt as a 13 year old to the surface.
