HEATHERS

People here are NOT discussing what happened. People are making wild speculation based on overheard conversation and hinting at things. Suffice to say, something happened and Miss Weed is no longer, obviously, a part of the production and guessing does no hood other than to spread rumors that are not true. I can safely guarantee that when a Veronica replacement is named, the cause of Weed's departure will most likely not be accurately listed, should a reason be given.
As far as Potter being "too old", SEVERAL 'high schoolers' in the show are very visibly in their 30s and the show does not play in any way on realism, so Ms. Potter, who would look age 100% appropriate in costume, would fit in and look more than young enough.

Potter is off doing her reality show thing, right? I doubt she'd do it.
And I'm morbidly curious as to why she was let go. I know it's not my business, but it's interesting.

In other news, Cait Fairbanks debuted as Veronica tonight. She was phenomenal.

Fairbanks has played Veronica before, if I recall.
Not sure why Hogeland was out, but doubt it was planned, as they have ONE swing right now.

Posted: 7/3/14 at 1:37pmYes, it was her first time on as Veronica and she sang the hell out of it.

Posted: 7/6/14 at 1:49pmWhat personal business is being discussed? Are you referring to messages about an actor either leaving the show or being fired? How is this more intrusive than... oh I don't know, every single post on this entire message board? It's about a performer in a show... it's about the job... it's not about her personal life in anyway. I would relax... or I suspect message boards are not for you.

I dont understand why everyone on here is having a problem with my opinion!
And yes, I'm more than old enough to see the show.

Actually jbroadway4, asking for a thread to be taken down is not an opinion. But if you're asking why we are challenging your sensitivity it's because the basis of your argument is wrong... and that is not an opinion, it's fact. You said that we are discussing someone's personal life... which is false. This is for all intents and purposes an "industry" message board. It is a discussion about an industry and how it works. In this case... broadway theater. In this industry a performer left a show and people have heard various stories as to why. Nobody is being libelous. They are simply sharing what they have heard and speculating as to why someone who is starring in a show would have left so suddenly. This is not a crazy thing... or even remotely inappropriate to discuss on a message board. Your sensitivity to this subject says more about you than it does about those discussing this situation. Either A) you are close to the subject of this topic and have strong feelings about her, or B) you are a very sensitive person (this is not a slam but something to be proud of) and maybe message boards are not a positive place for you to hang out in. Just a thought.

Posted: 7/6/14 at 5:41pmOr I think that certain people know why she has left and think it more appropriate to wait til after a press release has been issues and give it a little more breathing room before openly discussing, which isn't entirely unreasonable either. I won't debate the personal vs professional debate, because this is clearly a case where the two merge.

I remember when I was 14

"Or I think that certain people know why she has left and think it more appropriate to wait til after a press release has been issues and give it a little more breathing room before openly discussing."
Why? What difference does it make? Why does one need a press release before something can be discussed? And what exactly is this "breathing room" protecting anyone from? Will this actor be either less fired or have quit more amicably a few weeks from now? I feel like those jumping all over the "it's not nice to talk about this" train must be friends with her or something. That's the only way it makes sense to me. The information shared was vague and innocuous. It wasn't mean spirited. And it was absolutely no different from anything else I read on here. I mean, the minutes after Shia Labeouf was yelling up and down at Cabaret should we not have discussed that? (from what I remember bway world scooped the mainstream press on this before any kind of press release from Shia or Cabaret was released). Was that wrong? Was that mean? Does the Bway world community owe Shia an apology? If talking about this is tacky then this whole message board is tacky... oh wait.

Posted: 7/6/14 at 6:25pmNot at all, but I can say with certainty that the company was very expressly told not to discuss or comment on a thing until the press release about the next Veronica is issued. While some people, clearly, have "confided" in friends, none have openly stated why to the general public and I don't think it terribly remiss to respect not sharing at the moment... If not for Miss Weed because I assure you this is not stated in her defense, but to respect the fellow actors.

Fair enough... thoughtfully stated. However, if that is the case I do think those thoughts would more appropriately be reiterated in an inter-company memo to the cast and crew of Heathers rather than pointed to those discussing it here. The people posting on here don't seem to have intimate knowledge of what is going on behind the scenes and they are not responsible nor beholden to the wishes of the production... unless to your point they happen to be cast members pretending not to be in order to share hardly any news. I don't know. Seems unlikely. Either way, nobody on these message boards is acting inappropriately... or at least any more inappropriately than on any other threads I've read.
