They should just cast Chester Gregory and be done with it. I can't imagine they will find a better Seaweed!

There was a guy in my group who auditioned for Seaweed...he was amazing! He was called back, and they told him they really liked what he did...so, hopefully we'll see more of him! His name is Kendrix, so keep your eyes out for him!!!

Wow the audition sound cool! Was everyone who was doing the auditioning nice? I'm going to the open call in NYC and I want to know what to expect.

Everyone I dealt with was wonderful. They were a lot more patient, and understanding than auditors I've had in the past. I think that was mainly because there were a lot of younger people auditioning (ie Lil Inez). Who knows? They were really great, though. The process went quite quickly, and was very organized. There were people walking around all day filming the crowd, and doing some interviews, to spool together for extra DVD features. It was fun. :)

I think Seaweed has to be a phenomenal dancer, singer and actor, BUT he really needs to be at least cute, if not handsome, so they need to find someone like that for the movie in my opinion and he needs to look good in close-ups and not age 30 like some of the Seaweeds on Broadway& Tour have and could get away with. just my opinion.

I would love for them to have calls for Penny. There is no way they would see me for Tracy. Sounds like a great experience though.

well nothing really. they took a snap shot of me and i did an interview thing. and i talked to receptionist lady, and she told me that they will contact people for further screen tests as soon as they go to the other cities. so it may be a month or 2. but we shall see! so keep your fingers crossed!

yeah, i'm just gonna go more for experience than anything else, ykno? every time you put yourself out there is one more chance of being found. thanks for the encouragement! I can hear the bells, BrightEyedInNYC

Bwaybaby109... Sounds like you had a great audition. I plan on auditioning too so just a few questions. Did they give everyone an equal opportunity did you notice... even those without like a resume and just a snapshot as a headshot? And did they have you do anything else besides sing those 8 bars in the open call? Thanks so much! :)

I know the question wasn't for me, but yes they did. I don't think they even looked at our headshots, resumees, etc, till later. When they first announced who would get a call back after we all sang they hadn't looked at them.

thats what i think too. they just care about how you present yourself, your personaily and talent etc. so i dont think it matters.

i'm the kind of person who likes to wear what fits me. i wore a 3/4 light green sleeve sweater and a black skirt. i'm actually wearing the same sweater in my photo...hehe! i like to wear outfits that are not distracting. As for my hair, i just wore it down and straight, just so I can look similar to my headshot picture. That way they can probably remember me more. In my opinion, I always think its best to look like yourself as much as possible at an audition. The auditors want to see "you" not the character. And please don't wear blue jeans to auditons! You are asking for a job. And I'm sure none of us would go to a business job interview in blue jeans. Thats just my opinion.

Oh yeah, at the open call, we really did just sing 8 bars a capella of music. If you get a call back they want to hear 16 bars of music with an accompanist and they give you a scene the day before to look at, not memorize, but to read at the call backs with.

My mom has decided not to take me to NY now because apparently there is going to be a snowstorm. I'm really upset and literally crying right now.

It's not even there! Its in MA from what I figure! And if we leave early enough we probably will miss it entirely. I haven't checked weather reports though.

Dramadork...where are you at? Why don't you take the train? It's not thaaaaaat expensive and your mom wouldn't have to worry about driving in the *storm*...lol.

Well now she's changed her mind because they sent me an email saying they want to see me! So if she changes her mind one more time I will seriously spend all my savings to get there with or without her!

Ah, its been a crazy day!

Dramadork, I got that email too :)

I'm going to tell myself that everyone who sent in the application got that email, just so I don't get my hopes up.

I have a few questions for those of you who auditioned.. Even though we already sent in the application and photos, should we still bring it and give it to them again? And on the website they now have sheet music for download so that we know which 8 bars to sing.. Should people auditioning stick to that ("I love you Baltimore! ... Like a Symphony!")? Probably stupid questions, sorry :/

yea bring another copy of yoyr headshot and resume is something i recommend. and as far as the cut concerns, i think they were just giving you an example of what you can sing. i sang a different cut and it was cool.

Thank youuuuuu :)

I think I'll probably end up doing something else, then. Hopefully it'll work out right. I'm kind of talking to myself now, sorry.

I just have to hope I can get there on time.. The trains in my area don't start running until 9am on Saturdays. Blah. I might be able to drive up to a different station earlier than that, but I'm not sure if I'll have my car. Hm. Fun.

Again, thanks :) It's de-stressing my life a little bit knowing that I don't absolutely have to sing that part of the song. I know for some auditions I've attended, they give the music, say "Sing this," and if you change it, you're doomed from your first note.
