Yeah, I'm kind of assuming that everyone who sent in an application is going to get the email. Still, it won't deter me :) I'm majorly excited about it. I haven't been to New York in a while.
hey does anyone know what happenned with the seaweed callbacks/?!?

Well I'm sure the 120 lb. typical ingenue types were not invited to audition. I'm sure they went through and sent it to all people who matched their physical qualifications.

DramaDork, I didn't even think of that :) Smart.

Well, not to be rude or anything, but if you only weight 110 you shouldn't be trying out for Tracy at all.
dramadork~perhaps i'm not going only to audition for tracy. i'm just going to put my face out there and add to my experiences of auditions. like i said earlier in the thread, the more you put yourself out there, the better chance you'll have of being found. and don't worry, i didn't find your comment rude at all. i completely understand where you're coming from. i was just saying that smaller people (not to be rude) got emails, too, or at least i did. so that either means they sent one to everyone or they have something in mind for those that got one sent to them whether it's tracy or member of ensemble, or if they had an interesting nose (lol), whatever the case may be. sorry, i should have made this point more clear. :)

i agree. i think it's totally cool to audition for everything as much as possible. it's educational, no matter what the outcome is! I mean I would never get cast in A Chorus Line, but if I had the opportunity to go audition, I probably would! Ok...maybe not Chorus Line...haha! But you get my drift!
thanks for the encouragement, Bwaybaby109!
and who knows, maybe they'll keep all of our headshots and keep us in mind for future films. i like to open doors and give myself oppurtunities. i've got absolutely nothing to loose in auditioning.

woo hoo!! great picture by the way! its cute!
I wonder if they will have auditions in Canada
thanks bwaybaby-funny you should say that about my pic because i just saw your quote from the baker's wife in into the woods and this was a headshot taken for our schools production of into the woods (hence the tree i'm peeking out from.haha). i was cinderella. it was so much fun. what a great musical! oh, sondheim.
your picture reminds me of a good friend of mine. so does your optimism. it's a great thing. :)

haha! thanks BrightEyed! I was Little Red! We may do it at my college again next year! yey for Into the Woods! hehe!! That quote rocks like a boulder! and you got me on my optimism. my friends will tell you that i am too optimistic! lol. i cant help it, thats how i get through life.
And as far as auditions go in Canada, it's possible because some of the filming will be in Toronto. who knows!
forgive me for asking, but could some one tell me if Marissa turned down this role? Was it offered?
i dont really believe the "jeans" thing. i have a friend who auditioned for a broadway show and when he went in he had on dark blue jeans and blue converses with like a cashmere sweater on and they gave him the job. he actually looked very nice. i guess the more appropriate thing to say is where what u look nice in, and if u can mix casual with semi formal then go for it. but thats just me. maybe wearing jeans to this audition isnt a good idea.

I didn't mean to be rude either, I assumed you had put your name in for Tracy when there are a lot of other girls who constantly are passed up for roles because of their weight and this is one of those few roles they can play. I completely understand the whole getting your name out there, I'd do it myself.

there will be invited auditions in Toronto after the open call auditions in the states.

yeah i know some people don't care about the jeans thing. but i know it pisses some people off like Dave Clemmons. He hates it when people wear jeans. And people at SETC hate it too. It's just a risky thing to wear.
To add to the jeans thing...I think it is much different for girls...the competition for female roles is MUCH greater than for males..and I could see how a male in a cashmere sweater and DARK jeans would look dressed up. JMO.
And I don't see why it's a problem to audition if you aren't quite Tracy material...because I agree, it's a fantastic learning experience, and as someone else said earlier-they could want you for something else!!.
btw--- GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU!!! I'd totally audition for...SOMETHING if I was still in the states!!
just remember you are asking for a JOB so i would wear whatever you would wear when going to a job interview. nice, professional, and fitting. i have to agree with stephthestar. it might be fine for guys, but the competition is so incredibly fierce for girls, i wouldn't risk turning them off with what your wearing. remember, they are not only audiitoning your voice, but they start auditioning you the moment you walk in the door. :)

I wore jeans and a nice sweater to my Hairspray national tour audition and got a callback. They didn't seem to notice or care at all.

As for the email controversy... not everyone got one. I look the part of Tracy to a T almost but have like ZERO experience and didn't get an email. I was just wondering, all of you who got an email, do you have a fair amount of stuff on your resume or what do you think made you stand out more. I am just wondering what the exact reason is that I didn't get one. Thanks!

I don't have a ton of experience but I have done around 8 or 9 shows, have taken voice for almost 6 years and dance for 5.
