Last question. How many pictures should I send?

I personally wouldn't send more than 3, because they've got a lot of stuff to go through, and you can show a fairly wide range of yourself with that many. I sent in two pictures: one smiling and one more serious.

THANK you!! Okay, application is done -- wish me luck, everyone! I seriously hope something good can come out of this. BrightEyed was a girl, and they're still looking for female roles (and Seaweed), but I'm just not sure about us white guys.

Good luck! You never know what ensemble roles (or Link) they might be trying to fill!

question...

I dont' have the money to get my new headshots yet, and I gave my last good one to a friend for a lobby display and they haven't given it back yet - I want to send in my application, so - stupid as it is - I'm seriously debating stopping at the mall on my way home and going into one of those silly photo booths you do with friends adn get like, 4 pics in black and white...

I know it's so unprofessional but they said you could send snapshots right?

I'm just in a bit of a bind adn I'm not sure if it'd be fun adn original (is it dumb to make one of them goofy?) or just make me look unprofessional.

Personally it kinda makes me feel a lil of both but mostly I feel like it's the closest thing to my ehadshot to show off some of my personality...but if it's gonna be like "wow....she knows nothing about what you're supposed to send - toss that appoication" then I don't wanna do that either...

I was gonna try to get a digital camera pic taken, but they're always so awful and just look bad and I never feel like I can capture any of my personality so...

any suggestions for other alternatives or feedback on my dumb idea would be much appreciated!

MUUUUCH luck to those going to Chi-town!!! Some of my friends are going but I can't cause I have a big benefit thing downtown that day! re: HaIrSpRaY THE MOVIE AUDITION STORIES

CAn't wait to hear eveyrone's stories when they get back - knock em' dead y'all!

I honestly don't know whether sending in photo-booth photos would be a good idea or not. This kind of audition process is fairly new to me. I'd say take the pictures and see how they turn out, and maybe that'll help you decide? When I had my headshots made, I had them put onto a picture CD, so I was able to email them to the casting agency.

rKrispyt:

my suggestion would be to get a disposeable camera and take 12 pictures of yourself. send the best two or three. many people have been cast without a professional head shot- and if they are looking for unknowns, they are not expecting everyone to have professional pictures. they want to get an idea of what you look like. they are not judging you on the quality of the photo, but i would not send photo booth pictures- they are just too small.

yeah i did the disposable camera thing when i was living in new york and had an audition (for nickelodeon and some other stuff). my dad thought headshots were too expensive, so we just took some pictures. i didnt get any callbacks, so i dont know if they didnt like the pictures, or if they didnt like me... :)

A question for Bwaybaby109 and others who were at the auditions - are they only calling back girls of a certain height?

rKrispyt-
I believe Sutton Foster got her job in "Annie" by taking pictures in a photo booth. If I recall the story correctly, she did not know she had to bring a picture and resume, but after belting out "Oklahoma" at the audition, she was asked to bring a picture and resume. Since she didn't have any headshots, she took pictures in a photo booth.
Really, what it boils down to is if you've got the look they're going for.

It's really hard to say. Mainly they are looking at your look and your talent. But I think 5'3 is the maximum height for Tracy in the bway show auditions. SO I'm pretty sure your height has a lot to do with it.

I think I'm like an inch too tall but I'm going to go anyways cuz for once they didn't put a height requirement in the role requirements. You never know what they're looking for and might be you!

True. With movies, it's sometimes more flexible with heights and whatnot. But nevertheless, I still think Tracy has to be no taller than... well, you know.

Argh. I think this is the first time in my life that I'm regretting my height. I don't know if you guys are planning on going to the Chicago call tomorrow - but tomorrow's high is 13 degrees here in the windy city. So bundle up.

Minor threadjack:

How is the weather in Chicago. According to American Airlines, there was a big storm there yesterday, and that's why my flight was cancelled.

Soooooo confused. Help!

My niece left me a message on my answering machine which was all distorted in part because of her excitement. I've tried to reach her - but my sis took away her cell. Heh. Not necessarily a BAD thing, mind you. (The niece and I are only 3 years apart - so we're close, but I *know* her!)

Here's the thing. I think she said she was called back for Tracy, but then she said something about needing to fly somewhere this weekend for call backs? Is the Chicago call an open call, or just call backs or none of the above?

I want to be excited for her, but I'd like to know WHAT exactly it is I'm being excited about, if that makes any sense?

Help!!

It's an open call but they are calling people who sent in their headshot and resume ahead of time. So maybe that's what your neice did. Not sure.

so would anyone reccommend the people looking to send in their material (headshots and resume) for ensemble and smaller parts to go ahead and do so?

I don't know if I can recommend it, but I did it. Look back a few pages -- I was nervous about doing so, but they just told me to do ahead and do it, so I did, and now I'm just waiting for a response. But I only sent it in yesterday, so nothing yet. :) But yeah, go ahead and try!

Well, I went to the open call in Chicago today. When my plane landed this morning, it was a balmy 8 degrees below zero. My parents went with me, and when we got to the site, there were about 4 people outside waiting for the building to open in an hour! Needless to say, I waited in the heated car. Anyway, I met some really nice people (including Fxy2003--HELLO!). I was in the first group (there were 32 of us: 3 Seaweeds, 1 Lil' Inez, 1 Amber, and 27 Tracys). There were several people in the group whom I thought were really good, but only one girl got called back for Tracy (along with 2 Seaweeds and Lil' Inez). I feel like I did a good job, so I have no regrets, and there were several good people who didn't get called back either. The girl who did get called back was both chubbier and shorter than me, and she had a great Tracy voice.

Ah, I'm sorry. re: HaIrSpRaY THE MOVIE AUDITION STORIES Good job, though!

And when you say things like "...and there was 1 Amber", it makes me feel so happy because there ARE possibilities!!!
