I was able to get them on Apple Music via this playlist. I didn’t preorder tho. Lmk if this works.

What’s interesting to me is that, even though I haven’t heard him say anything against the drop system, I’m fairly certain Patrick Page must dislike it. He once said that he can only really listen to the show as a whole, and not just choosing individual songs from it.

He can literally listen to it live 8x a week. He's an actor on a job, his album is eventually going out there for people to have access to. I don't know why we put so much pressure on wanting to know everyone's thoughts.
Who's putting pressure? And I doubt he is just listening as, per your comment, he is an actor on a job with more to do than just listen. Hot Pants was just sharing what Mr Page said. Lighten up!

I have not liked the cast album all that much. Seems like it’s a lot different than the show. Really lacks the energy

this is one of the dumbest album release strategies I have ever seen...

For the Apple music people, yesterday's releases are on a separate EP called Hadestown: Hermes, Fates, and workers. if you search Anais Mitchell it should come up. I just found it. Someone on Twitter figured this out.

I only listened to one song from the first drop. Have listened to most of this second drop and am finding it to be well done. Patrick Page sounds way better on thew recording then when I saw it live. He was off key at times and for as loud as they had him amplified at the time, It was very noticeable and a bit jarring at one point. JMO

I hate to say it, but I kind of agree. I’ve been holding judgement until we get the whole thing and I can listen through, but so far it’s been a bit disappointing. There is definitely an energy that is missing (one of the nice things about the live recording from NYTW was that energy).
That is an excellent recording. I wish they had released all the songs, at least digitally.

I hate to say it, but I completely agree. This reminds me of the most recent Hello, Dolly! revival cast recording. Really lacking energy.
Haven’t heard any cast album and don’t plan to. Every time I start seeing a show many times (Yiddish Fiddler), I say to myself, “go see something else”. I won the Lottery to Hadestown the Sat matinee before the Tony’s. Energy? Yes. Mr. de Shields wonderful? Yes. But I never became involved in any story that was trying to be told. I went dizzy with the constant revolving turntables and up and down elevator that I thought was overused. In short, it wasn’t for me. The audience went through the roof as I sat there going from liking the first number to a slow descent of not liking much else. Then it won the Tony the next day. This is usually the reason I go back again and again to a show I like because the others usually come up short.
