Quick question about the Hadestown live cast recording - why do all the songs say "Mitchell:" in front of the title? Is it because of Anaïs Mitchell? Sorry if this is dumb, but it confused me.

There is a setting in iTunes called "Show composer in all views" that can easily be changed, if you wish.

I don’t have an answer to your question, but I noticed that on Spotify as well and thought it was odd.

I believe the reason that they gave was that they didn’t want to do a two CD album so we got what fit in one disc. In today’s times where most people just buy digital albums I think it is silly they couldn’t just release it all digitally, but I’m sure it was partially a money thing.

Anaïs said on Twitter at one point that the reason was that the label wanted to release a good majority, if not all, of the new material that was written for the show that was not on the original concept album. I would hope we get the full thing, but I don’t foresee that unless the show hits Broadway. Even then, it say not be the original NYTW cast.

I helped out with a middle school musical (7th/8th graders, so 12-14 year olds) recently, and quite a few of them were fans of the show (they'd play it while doing homework, recommend it to each other etc.), and definitely had a complete comprehension of it from what I gathered.
In terms of fully understanding the show, 12+ seems to be the threshold.
In terms of "appropriate-ness," I really don't think it's bad at all. It lacks a happy ending and has some (inexplicit) references to sex, as well as references to alcohol (though most of it is implied through euphemisms). Beyond that, there's nothing that'd raise flags for me personally, though others might disagree.
Best to just read the plot summary on Wikipedia and see if there's anything concerning there, imo.

it's because whoever programmed the metadata on the disc put Ms Mitchell's name somewhere and each track is pulling the data. if you're in iTunes, you can edit the song names and take that out.
as to the live recording, it was stated that the producers didn't want to two discs and decided not to replicate what was on the concept CD and so you get a complete recording if you buy both.
as to the age-appropriateness, i think that's a decision that each person has to make for themselves. personally, i think the orpheus and eurydice tale is appropriate for a young teen.

There is nothing graphic or explicit in the show, as far as I can remember. A younger child could be into it, but likely bored.

I saw it and found it utterly captivating from the get-go. It’s a wonderful story that is sung through beautifully composed music and lyrics. I went in knowing the story, but nothing of Ms. Mitchell and her work. I’m very glad I made the choice to see it and very much look forward to the Broadway production. Please God: Amber Gray and Patrick Page.
