Homophobic slurs are yelled each and every day, to a lot of people.
That's why I carry a tazer and mace.
Lots of slurs are yelled everyday in NYC. I saw a woman called a C-word by a cabbie. She called him some choice words and kicked his cab with her Manolos. I think this is very prevalent in general. Hatred and ignorance are everywhere.
Captain, it might also be the time of day you were hailing the cabs. If it was close to the shift change (usually 4 PM but they start as early as 3:15) they might deny you because it will take them too far away from their transfer location. I believe they lose money if they are late handing over the cabs.
The homophobia in the world doesn't surprise me anymore.
What surprises me is the homophobia on Broadway World.
Telling us that posts about hate crimes aren't necessary and saying "blah blah blah" and "I find it hard to believe..." is insensitive, rude, and homophobic.
We have a right to express our disgust. Too many people stay quiet when these injustices are made. This isn't the same as the Nick Adams incident. New York, despite it's diversity, can be very homophobic. It is despicable that we are still treated like second class citizens.
I don't think anyone is denying that this is disgusting. But I also don't think it shocks anyone anymore, which is sad.
My only problem is StephenSondheimWhoo's thought process when he made it a thread here. Yes, both of them put it on their facebook statuses, but that still doesn't mean they want to make it universal knowledge. It seems to me a bit of an invasion of privacy. Just because someone is on broadway doesn't mean their facebooks or twitters or twatters are up for anyone to make public domain.
I would consider Twitter public domain because anyone can see it even if they don't gave an account.
Maybe we're tired of being questioned when we express our disgust. IF we want to make five thousand threads about this, we will. Anyone who loves Broadway should be disgusted. The artform would be nowhere if it wasn't for us ****ing faggots.
Bobbybubby, you're clearly missing my point. There IS and will ALWAYS be disgust at people who treat people like that.
Personally, I have no issue with a thread being started about this. Was there any mention of what cab company it was?
Wait...so a cabbie in Manhattan (!!!) is freaked out by gays and refuses service and calls them a bad name. Why?
I feel like there's more to the story. Maybe not, but possibly?
Figures FlyingMonkey would be a racist. He's also the biggest PattiHater on BroadwayWorld.

Patti's of Sicilian descent, right? Many Northern Italians consider Sicilians the n-words of Italy.
In high school nowadays whenever I get a dirty look because I am who I am it doesn't even surprise me anymore. People are disgusting.

I sure hope Marty Gould Cummings makes a video about this.
I had no idea MGC and Anthony were a couple. Good for them.

Coming soon: Gay dude sneezes and nobody blesses him! THE OUTRAGE!
To answer a previous poster: Anthony Hollock is one of the tribe members of Hair. If you watched the Tony Awards, he was the one making some pretty humorous faces in his disbelief of winning for best revival.
Yeah, I'm totally racist to point out what the majority of us who don't live in magical bubbles and/or attempt to be politically correct all of the time already know. I'm also a bad person and homophobic. And I hate women because I don't like Patti LuPone. And Sicilians because she is Sicilian, right? See my signature below. I'm pretty damn awful.

Anyone who has read any of your posts here knows that you are nothing but a clown. Everything you say about black people on here is racist.

I had something constructive to add...but I've forgotten it...damn.
BobbyBubby seems to throw out the word "homophobic" like others throw out the word "hello".

Good news. I am disgusted. I'm disgusted that another myopic fanatic wants to turn "Broadway" into the ultimate gay ghetto and self-righteously denounce anyone who's bored with the twiddle-twaddle. I'm a social worker whose adolescent client was beaten to a pulp by gay bashers a few years back. Last time I checked, that's pretty discriminatory. Thank GOD he wasn't also trying to hail a taxi.
