re: Hairspray Mom says THANKYOU

Saw Hairspray in MN last year (twice) and had the honor to see Keala both times. I saw Marissa do the role as well and I thought Keala knocked her Tracy out of the park. I can't wait for the producers of Hairspray to move her to Broadway where she belongs. She's a Tracy with soul.

Kia Ora Cindy013:

Thank you very much for those kind words. Kealas Dad and I were just reading your message and thought this is our only way of really knowing what kind of impact her performance in hairspray has on others.

I hope you do get to see her and her fantastic cast. I cannot speak for other shows but this amazing group of people from the stage crew, management, wig, costumes, and dresser ladies of this touring group have our greatest admiration. Night after night they work together to stop this crazy world for one moment in time to bring us all a few hours of total joy.

When Honey and I visit with Keala we feel very privileged to be amongst such talented people. The cool thing is we get to do what very few people are able to do and that is to say thank you to almost all of them.

I don't know what her schedule is but either way I hope you do get to see this wonderful touring group.

Thank you again for your support of Keala and have a great Evening, as Keala would say

Hairspray is coming back to Ohio...this time to my hometown of Akron. re: Hairspray Mom says THANKYOU

When I met with Keala in Cleveland, we hardly got to talk, so I hope she sticks with it through September.

What a marvelous job you are doing keeping up with the cyberspace traffic. Dad had been trying to get back to you in reply to your letter but I've been hogging the lap top. Anyways my dear I'm glad you like Scotts site I have to go back on it later and drop him a line. We just received about 10 weekend inserts out of the Washington Post from our whanau in DC. Aren't they terrific. Well dear better give up the lap Top.

Geesh Mom Settle, now that you're all tech savvy, Dad Settle's going to have to fight for his Internet time!! I still think that you and Dad Settle should come see the show while it's in Chicago, and meet your virtually adopted daughter...teehee. re: Hairspray Mom says THANKYOU

As for the exerpts from the paper, I read the article online just before, and I LOVED the photo of Keala and Serge--that's from the photo shoot you were telling me about, right? So adorable!

Love love!

This isn't about Keala, instead her understudy, Katrina. I was searching the Internet last night and found some clips that Katrina put on the net of herself singing. If anyone is interested in listening, the URL is http://www.purevolume.com/katrinarose She seems like an amazing singer, I'd love to be able to see her perform.

Now back to Keala, lol.

re: Hairspray Mom says THANKYOU

I took my kids to see the show at the Kennedy Center last night. My husband and I saw the original Broadway cast in NYC twice, and the first touring company in Baltimore. We were very worried about our 3-year-old son because he has never seen a "Broadway" musical before. He was mesmerized!

But my daughter, who is 9, went berserk for Keala! My daughter has cerebral palsy, so she has speech and gross motor issues, but she sang every song and danced spontaneously in her seat. She kept pointing to the stage and saying, "I want to go down there and be with Tracy!" "I want to do what she's doing!" "I want to meet Tracy!" So after the show, we stopped at the stage door and Keala came out. My daughter, Rosemary, went wild! She jumped up and down saying, "I saw you! I saw you!" Rosemary's brother, Noel, was hiding behind his father when Keala asked me, "Is this yours too?" Then he came out of his shybess and told Keala all about why he was wearing a bandaid on his head and how "Hairspray is my FAVORITE show!"

Yes, Keala hugged Rosemary and Noel--which made them feel so important--and then she hugged me and my husband! And we were so touched. She is a wonderful and kindhearted person. And can she sing!!! Every Tracy we saw in the role has been good, but there is no way that Keala won't be on Broadway soon. She's just soooo great. And her karma is good.

Mr. and Mrs. Settle, We would love to meet you in Washington DC--so you can give us some advice on how to raise children to grow up to be like Keala.

Also, we saw two understudies go on Sunday night. One for Penny and the other for Motormouth. They were amazing! I have never seen such perfect performances from understudies before. I think Penny was played by Caissie Levy and Motormouth by Jacqueline B. Arnold. Other stand-outs included Alan B. Mingo, Jr as Seaweed, Stephen De Rosa as Wilber, and Worth Williams as Amber Van Tussle. Maybe I should write a review! re: Hairspray Mom says THANKYOU

Jackie Arnold ROCKS!

She is one of the last remaining original cast members on the tour, and she's the coolest thing since sliced bread.

I really enjoyed her performance when I saw the show...though her playing Lorraine (?) wasn't a huge part, she definitely made herself shine at the right moments...there was just something about her.

re: Hairspray Mom says THANKYOU

She's the one that went crazy when Jane Blass put a fake hair in her mole when playing the gym teacher in Hairspray...Jackie has OCD n' couldn't stand it...the rest of the cast got a kick outta Jackie's freaking out lol. She tried to attack Jane with a tweezers. At the end of the show they let her pluck it out of Janes mole.

re: Hairspray Mom says THANKYOU

T.: Keala's contractual agreements are private however, knowing how this board works, we will know as soon as Keala does--if not before, lol--what is going down with Keala. For now she is looking forward to working with her new cast of characters that are in rehearsal right now and will be hitting the stage next week. Mom Settle would also like you to know that she apperciates your support very much.

Hope that helps!!
