Would LOVE it if they did a "curtain call" end credits, like they did for CHICAGO and DREAMGIRLS.
Mateo, tell me more about the EW sneak peek. Are they showing a trailer?
Wow! Sounds like you witnessed an amazing 20 minutes Craig!
I fell in love with HAIRSPRAY from the first day I saw the original film starring Divine and Rikki Lake. I had always said that the film lent itself to a musical adaptation and always hoped one would be made. It was great on screen, on stage and now it's great to see it come full circle...back on the big screen as the musical I knew it could be.
I can't wait for this to be released!
Lorings Guy-
I believe the whole thing will focus on Travolta.
Its a segment in their "boys of summer" summer films package.
But the preview showed clips no one has seen before outside of ShoWest and preview attendee's.
I think all the clips are from the yet to be released Hairspray trailer.
So at least everyone will get to see (albeit brief)a glimpse of actual film footage.
I think it was mentioned before, but I'm not sure - was Amanda's voice used in the 20 minute preview? I'm still really curious to hear her, and I didn't know if they showed anything that included her singing?
no singing scenes featuring amanda- but several scenes of her were shown.. and she is pretty hilarious.
During ShoWest they played the new YCSTB track, and I heard her sing a little bit. Her voice is very sweet soundng- and I wish I could describe it better.. but by the time I really started listening to the music- her verse had ended.
My favorite (from the clips) was her line reading of "I'm very pleased and scared to be here"
cracked me up both times - and it's a COMPLETELY different line reading than anyone else has done
yyyyes!
I also loved "Mrs TUUUURNBLAAAAD!"

well not to be a debbie downer (well maybe just a bit) but we all know of another movie musical that offered an infamous "20 minutes of Heaven" before its release. need i say more? lets not get so exicted people.

Feel free to be a downer. Having seen these types of things before I honestly think people will love it - and not just musical theater people.
As I told a few of the creative that night - and I'll be candid here - Hairspray flies in more under the radar I think than The Producers, RENT and Dreamgirls. The plot is more universal and it allows for an easier transition (I think) to varying the way it's presented versus for example RENT (which no matter who you cast and whoever directed was going to be controversial amongst the legion of fans). The Producers was just ill-conceived in execution I thought.
It was a great lil cult movie that has exploded on stage and I think that the movie version will be a really fun time at the movies.
I can't wait for this!
AHHH!!!
SWEET! Do we know whether or not that soundtrack will come out before the movie like "Dreamgirls" and "RENT" or after the movie, like "Chicago?"
I would imagine it would come out beforehand. I know Marc is currently working on the final mix for the actual film and I would venture a guess that until that's complete, they can't master a CD. Maybe Marc will pop on and confirm/etc any release dates for the soundtrack
As Mateo posted - try and catch ET tomorrow night...
I cannot WAIT for this movie. Watching Nikki film the opening song from only 10 yards away was a highlight of my year and I can't reiterate how perfect she is and she will be the glue that brings this amazingly talented cast together for what is sure to go down in history as a great great musical movie adaptation.

Did someone call my name?
YES! :)
can you give us any scoop on the music?
Marc,
Just know that I will be blubbering like a baby when she sings "I know every step I know every song" because not only can I relate SO much, but she was staring right at me when they filmed that shot (her leaning against the music storefront)...and I was just thinking "Me too!"

Yes, Marc, please! We're all dying to know...when will the soundtrack be released, and can you tell us how the mixing is going?

i saw the footage of 'Ladie's Choice' that was shown at ShoWest, and I absolutely LOVED it! I love the song; it's become my new addiction, and it was only a clip. Nothing to worry about Zac Efron, he's definitely got it handled. Nikki was just ADORABLE, especially as she takes to the dance floor and starts dancing, and I was really happy with the production design and choreography - it was really amazing too. For those of you wanting eye popping colour and candy as in the stage show, Ladie's Choice is your number!
Seeing that really elevated my excitment for this movie, and I'm pretty certain that it will be doing more than justice enough to the stage production

well, I guess I can just say it now...the movie came out fantastic!
I'm believe that the soundtrack will be out exactly with the movie
I am currently recording up a mountain of orchestrations, background vocals, score cues, etc...a LOT of work, and obviously, a joy
The buzz and good will coming from the SHOWEST presentation, the actual 1st public preview, and the press trailer is thrilling.
Now, if we can just eek out a place for ourselves amongst SPIDER MAN 3, PIRATES 3, DIE HARD 4, SHREK 3, OCEAN'S 13, FANTASTIC FOUR 2, EVAN ALMIGHTY, RATATOUILLE, TRANSFORMERS and HARRY POTTER 4, which all open before us
Oy.
I assume the 'press trailer' is whats to air on ET.
Instead of saying "I Can't Wait" I'll adopt Tracy's mindset and say "I CAN wait."
Have a good time finishing it all up. We are all very excited about this one.

As excited as I am for ALL of those, this one tops the list. Can't wait to see a full trailer!
WHOPEE!!!
Gah, I'm so excited.
Just to make sure I don't miss E.T. tomorrow (or tonight, since it is 2:00am), does it come on at 7:30pm on the east coast?
