No casting announced. I would die if they could get Patti back.
Oak would be a great Che!
In actuality, though, I'm sure there is plenty of Australian talent that can play these roles.

I'm still sad we didn't get to see Jenn Colella's Evita in Toronto
This should be filmed for eventual release, as Julie Andrews' "My Fair Lady" should have been, too.
If John Frost can manage a reproduction of the original "Follies," then he'll have scored the trifecta of shows I'd like to use a time machine to see. Too bad it's down under.
By original production does that mean original orchestrations/no "You Must Love Me" addition as well?

hysterical....why do I feel he's doomed on B'way?

They said the same about Oak in Comet.

Thank you for saying that! There most definitely is! Unfortunately though, as Michael Cassel isn't producing, there will almost certainly be at least some import casting involved.

If she's not still doing Beautiful by then and they do go with an Australian, I could see Esther Hannaford maybe being cast.

There's so much talent in Australia it's ridiculous however producers tend to recycle the same three leading actresses over and over and over again. It'll most likely be Gemma Rix who plays the Eva. She seems to literally step out of one role and into another.

Didn't Michael Cassel import the leads for Kinky Boots?

Of course! It's racist if he won't.

He did bring in Callum Francis to play Lola (although I think thanks to a certain Disney prince that move might be permanent!). In December however the Michael Cassel Group made a formal agreement with the Media, Entertainment and Arts Alliance that they would only employ international performers in limited circumstances (e.g. a performer of a particular ethnicity, a renowned performer, etc.) where it is not possible to cast an Aussie and will also consult with MEAA when doing so. So he could still bring in someone like Callum if there wasn't a suitable black Australian to play the role (which I would believe - I couldn't think of anyone), or he could bring in Patti Lupone to play Eva Peron. But he wouldn't be able to bring in a relatively unknown American to play Charlie Price when there are countless young white male performers here who could do the role.

Her bio is literally just 'Wicked in Japanese, then Wicked, then more Wicked, then Wicked again, Molly in Ghost and then to mix things up playing the Wicked Witch in the Wizard of Oz!'. I actually liked her in Ghost though.
I would love for Samm Hagen to finally get her big breakthrough role; she is just too good to always be an understudy/ensemble. Or if they want someone a bit older then Patrice Tipoki.
Now watch them cast Marina Prior...

Yep Callum Francis as Lola and the Lola understudy I think was imported from the US. Like someone else said we tend to have a LOT of imports in our professional musicals. There was a lot of tension over our Elders Price and Cunningham in Book of Mormon being imports when singing dancing white boys aren't exactly in short supply here.
Our theatre seems to be like our films and TV sometimes, the same dozen or so actors appearing over and over and over. Like producers are afraid audiences won't go if it's anyone else.
Finally , I think I just pee'ed a little
When the tour kicks off in South Africa in October, Eva will be played by an actress from the UK. It's probable that she'll continue with the legs in Tokyo and Sydney, isn't it?

LOL and Cynthia as Evita and Casal as Peron! Now there's a losing show!
Rob Mills is sure to be there---outstanding recently in JCS.
David Campbell ??
Lupone--over the hill--listen again to your recordings if you must.
A non-star worked for Fair Lady so why not for Evita ?

Yeah because a 68 year old actress can totally pull off playing a woman who died at the age of 33! /sarcasm
Well, Ted Neeley's over in Europe still playing a man who died at the age of 33, and he ain't that much older than her...
Yes but isn't JC supposed to be immortal??
