"Starting tonight, all performances of Hamilton and The Last Ship will be canceled through Wednesday, March 25."
What a drag.
Thanks for the info, Dame.
Also The Last Ship with Sting at the Golden Gate.
Word is that ATG is cutting seats to fit under 1000 people for Harry Potter at the Curran.

The Last Ship was scheduled to only run thru March 22 and open in Washington D.C. on March 27 so unless they reschedule all the remaining tour stops, effectively it closed.
Postponed, not cancelled. Huge difference, genius.
Again, the title of this thread is literally INCORRECT. It’s not cancelled. It’s been postponed until the end of the month.
This is over reaction to the millionth degree.
The wrong ONE PERSON can be 'a crowd'.
Every day is a risk when I drive away from home. I usually just pack a love towel--now I have wet ones AND hand sanitizer---all these props!

I can certainly see where someone from the comfort of their couch 7500 miles away might believe that.

Their word. My misspelling. You can move your hand away from your hip now and drop the bitterness.
PERFORMANCES were cancelled. Not the run itself. The title of this thread makes it sound like the entire run was cancelled.

Have you checked Australias' confirmed numbers and now Tom Hanks and wife? not that comfortable, just realistic.

All the San Francisco Bay Area theaters should close. I know it's bad for the theater companies, for the performers, for the people who whose jobs depend on it. Shoot, it's bad for me - as I was looking forward seeing The Last Ship and several plays, including Gloria at the Strand and School Girls, scheduled to start soon at the Berkeley Rep. We also were going to see a local production of The Sound of Music.
But I'm not going to see any of them now. I would rather the theater owners make the responsible call and not have it forced upon them by local governments.

But magically all this panic and hysteria will be over on March 25? Whew!

If you can assure us that today's 100 cases in the Bay Area won't be 1000 cases by next week and 10,000-20,000 cases or more in 2 weeks, cause that's how these things grow, then I'll agree with you. Until then it's not an overreaction to the milliionth degree, the thousandth degree or even a single degree. You don't take these extreme measures cause of how many cases you have, but how many you could potentially have and a desire to avoid that. It's slowing in China cause they took extreme measures. So no, it"s not an overreaction... at all.

ACT canceled its current plays in a email I just received. See below:
Based upon the recent guidance from the State of California and the City of San Francisco Public Health Department regarding large gatherings, AC.T. will cancel productions of Branden Jacobs-Jenkins’s Gloria and Lydia R. Diamond’s Toni Stone effective immediately. It is critical to prioritize the safety and health of our patrons, employees, artists, and students, and this is the responsible action to take.
For those of you who will not be able to see a live performance of Gloria or Toni Stone, we have developed an innovative way for you to experience these stellar productions from the comfort of your own home. Patrons will be provided exclusive access to a recording of the performance through a partner that will also allow you access to their extensive library of productions, ranging from Shakespearean classics to modern musicals and dramas. We are still working on bringing this all together but ticket holders will receive an email from A.C.T. with directions on how to access the recording sometime next week. Stay tuned!
The guidance to cancel large events takes us through the end of March and we hope that we will be able to share with audiences our final two productions, Richard O’Brien’s The Rocky Horror Show and Poor Yella Rednecks: Vietgone Part 2.

As luck would or wouldn't have it, I had tickets for Toni Stone tonight so I got the same e-mail. I had called the box office at 11:30 a.m. and they still hadn't made any decisions to cancel so they must have been agonizing over this all morning. It's the right decision to make though Gloria was scheduled to run through April 12 and I'm a little surprised they decided to cancel the whole run now and not wait till the end of the month to see if they could salvage the last 2 weeks of performances. Thankfully, I got to see it last Friday and it was really excellent.
Also got an e-mail from Center Theater group in L.A. and they are also cancelling all current and soon to open productions including The Book of Mormon.
