Happy Birthday Mary Beth Peil

Today is Mary Beth Peil's 75th birthday! She's one of my favorite actresses working today, always elevating whatever material she's given to the highest level.

She was particularly lovely in the last Sunday in the Park revival at Roundabout. Beautiful reduced me to a sniffling wreck, especially when she sang, "Quick, draw it all, Georgie," and then killed you with her wistful, "How I long for the old view."

So best wishes, and here's to many more roles to wow us with!

I'd seen Follies about 5 times before I learned that Mary Beth had played "Gran" on Dawson's Creek. I was floored!!

I truly love this woman. She has to be one of the hardest working actresses around and her work is always excellent. I hope she has a larger part in the good wife this next season!

She was wonderful in everything from Women on the Verge to The Visit.

I talked to her at the intermission (or interval) of MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG in London several years back. She was seeing the performance with her daughter; just a really nice down-to-earth person.

Loved her in Follies. She was very kind at the stage door as well.
