Has an actor or actress ever stopped a show when they saw a flash go off or seen the red flashing light? Given the person a death look or anything?

Theres a video on that site of Kerry Ellis doing No Good Deed and she looks dead at the camera, shakes her head no and gives the most evil look.

There have been threads about this. But....At a matinee performance of The Wiz, during the song "Be A Lion", a guy took a flash photo. Stephanie Mills got up, walked across the stage and off into the wings. The orchestra kept playing while an usher came down and escorted the guy out of the theater. After he was removed, Ms. Mills returned to the stage and finished the song. The whole thing took about 5 minutes.

Well, not with a camera, but with a cell phone.

Tovah Feldshuh stopped GOLDA'S BALCONY because, I believe, someone was on their cell phone. She stopped the show and I think they escorted the guy out of the theater or at least embarassed the hell out of him by telling him to turn it off and then they started the show again from the beginning.

I just viewed about 4 videos of Kerry performing "No Good Deed" and there isn't anywhere where she does that -- look directly into the camera and shake her head.

Quite honestly, she constantly is shaking her head during the number so how this person isolated one of these head shakes as a direct form of communication to the person filming her is beyond me. She looks at various areas of the audience throughout the song and yes... a few times DOES look like she's looking directly into the camera filming her but alas... nothing remotely close to what that poster stated.

Sorry.

I think the one they're talking about is this.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=outN3dQyjS8

she does look right at the camera...but you can't be sure if thats in her act or if she's shaking her head at the person. However, person that put the video up said that when she went stage door Kerry chastised her and said she saw her filming and wasn't pleased, making the fan run away. lol.

Is that the video you were referring to?

No, the video I mention was posted by a boy who pointed out the time and mentioned he had seen her like 30 something times. I'll look for it.

I remember the description of the video saying "At 2.14 she shakes her head at the camera which she ususally never does at that moment. I have seen her 36 times so I know."

Edit: I just watched the video above. That is the one I mention. Updated On: 8/9/08 at 03:47 PM

The comments to that video are hilarious. DO Broadway stars really enjoy seeing the illegal videos online as one person stated? I find that hard to believe. There's a reason the person is in theatre in a stage show, and it isn't to get interenet popularity. If they wanted a fan-base online through the use of videos why not make videos themselves?

Maybe not necessarily online but many actors LOVE bootlegs.

lol yeah, the comments are fun.

I think I remember back in the day when Anika Noni Rose had a few illegal videos of her performances from youtube on her myspace. She's since removed them, it was a long time ago. lol

Well, it is awfully ballsy to film a bootleg when you are in the first row, sitting directly behind the conductor, for crying out loud!

Didn't Kerry Ellis break character and stop in the middle of Defying gravity when the lift didn't secure correctly? They went black and then she came back out and did the song without the lift and knocked the it out of the park.

HAHA! I KNOW! I'm not surprised Kerry noticed and made that subtle gesture.

There are some actors who are against bootlegs and others that acutally like them. I remember being at the stage door of Spamalot during Hanna Waddingham's run. She was talking about how upset she was that there were no videos of her on youtube during her Broadway run because she was wondering how she was doing.

There is also the story of one of the Tracy Turnblad understudies learning the role by watching a bootleg of the lead. I think the lead at the time was Winoker.

And, there is the story of the guy in the audience at Moon For The Misbgotten, who collapesed during the show and they had to call the FDNY in for help. However, the show continued. I would have thought that if you had to bring in the FDNY in to help out with a situation in the theatre that it would be okay to stop the show for a bit.

Annaleigh Ashford has recently stopped a show in Chicago but it wasn't because of video'ing or cell phones. Their mics weren't working properly.

The description of the video is so stupid.

"An amazing No Good Deed from Kerry Ellis in London.

At stage door she said that she saw me filming her and she wasnt pleased at all. I was embarrassed and apologised and ran away lol.

I don't have anything else from the show.
"

If she wasn't pleased at all and saw the person film it, why would they put it on youtube? It's not only copyright infringement, but it's against the actresses wishes. Some people have no respect.

To go further, why would this fool go to the stage door and tell her that he was the one doing it?

^I don't think that they told Kerry that they were filming. I think she recognized them as the one filming. Being they were front and center. They had alot of balls to film in the first place and then to go to SD afterwords where Kerry is deff. gonna recognize somebody that was in the front row.
