And now I am on a Paloma rampage. This is her serving some Eva Peron. 80s Variety Show Realness.

Ones that stuck out were Patti( for obvious reasons), Pia (She brought a rough, edgy style to Eva which was amazing), and Loni ( Very powerful)!
If I have to hear "yew" one more time I will shoot my eyes out.

Posted: 5/27/12 at 5:51pmLoni,Pia-effortless, singing brilliantly, Patti-powerful screaming the best of all in the role, Paloma-gorgeous.........she is doing a tour in Spain as Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady! Anyone have a recording of Valeria Lynch-Mexican Evita?- She also has a powerful voice. Florence-good, but too pretty vocally, Elena-as someone said on a youtube video- sounds like a strangled cat. Elaine-great too.

Susan Carr-George makes those vocals sound effortless. It's impressive.
I will say, I still prefer LuPone's voice in the role... She just sounds so fierce.
Also, that wig on Susan Carr-George is really awful.

I like Paloma's voice and vigor, but her Castillian accent is annoying. That goes for everyone on the recording, too. They sound like they have a lisp. It's quite jarring , for example, to hear Ché sing:
¡O que gran thirco! ¡O que gran show!
Argentina que conmothión
Por una actríth que se ha muerto y es Eva Perón...
Ugh!
Vita, dulcedo, et spes nostra
Salve, Salve Regina
Ad te clamamus exsules filii Eva
Ad te suspiramus, gementes et flentes
O clemens O pia

Posted: 5/27/12 at 11:53pmI do remember being thrilled by Natalie Toro in the 20th anniversary tour. However there does not seem to be much on Youtube from that production to really refresh my memory, just a very low quality "Montage" and a better quality "Another Suitcase," which starts with Eva coming in on the Mistress, neither of which really showcase what a thrilling Eva can do.
