Whenever someone misuses an apostrophe, God kills a puppy.
Frankly I don't think of them sound great. Andrew Lloyd Blubber wrote it in a key that's impossible to belt without screaming. If I had to pick one, it would be Pia Douwes.

Definitely Patti LuPone. She has the most power, and she does it all on one breath!
Evita's = Evita is (sorry puppies)
Evitas = multiple Evitas
I'm in awe that someone actually wasted their took the time to put all that together.
Couldn't get through the shrilliness of it all...
Apologies kids, it's nearing 1am here...
Not that I pretend to be any sort of apostrophe expert anyway...
Definitely Patti. Is Elena Roger even singing it in the original key? I know Madonna isn't. Worst of the bunch goes to Nancy Opel though. Yikes.
I think Nancy Opel's Evita (save her Rainbow High) is really disappointing. Especially considering she probably has those notes NOW.
Pia Douwes and Loni Ackerman rock it out, though.
My favorite is still Patti, though. Although, I'll admit that a lot of that is due to hating the tempos in other productions.

I love Paula Capovilla's delivery of this line... she was amazing live when I saw her.

The almighty strength behind Patti's vocal on that recording is spine-tingling. I mean, I don't care if she had difficulties in the role or if anyone thinks she is poor in the role or if anyone doesn't like Patti, no one can say that she can't ROCK the **** out of that score.
Elaine Paige
Patti LuPone
Madonna
aaaannndd of course (I'm sure everyone on here knows this considering it is pretty well known on here that I am a huge fan), Elena Roger.
This and "You're a tramp, you're a treat, you will shine to the death, you are shoddy. But you're flesh, you are meat, you shall have every breath in my body" are my two favorite lyrics in the whole show.
I just went to listen to an audio of Elaine Paige as Evita and HOLY S*&%^@ she sounds INCREDIBLE. The orchestrations sound a lot louder and fuller than the original Broadway production for some reason too.
Didn't even think I'd mention two OBSESSED video's within such a short time period, but here is a recent Nancy Opel.

I do think Patti won in that video, but Florence Lacy did have a different take on it which was nice.

No need to apologize; you didn't do anything offensive.

I grew up listening to the Spanish version of Evita, so when I saw a double disc of Paloma San Bicilio (sp) I had to get it and I loved it. She was a huge pop star in Latin America. The Spanish translation is pretty good and honest (unlike the West Side Story one they tried a few years ago).
