Nope. Like the ridiculous Mean Girls musical movie, it's just a money grab. Heathers is a good movie, Heathers is a cute musical, let's just leave it there.

It has a better score than Mean Girls, but I can't see any reason to turn it into a movie. The original movie is a classic, and any kind of remake would probably never be green-lighted by a studio in our post-Columbine world.

I prefer Heathers over Mean Girls too, but I agree. The black comedy and satire surrounding a kid in a black trench-coat blowing up his school would fly right over Twitter's head.
That, or they'll adapt the abomination known as the high school version to the screen...

Interestingly enough, there was a TV series remake in 2018 that was delayed twice after school shootings. It didn't get great reviews at all and seemed to be way more socially conservative than any other iteration of the story, which didn't work for a lot of people. I think there could be a movie if the subject matter got the right treatment, but it probably wouldn't be likely, especially with the Mean Girls movie musical having beaten them to the punch.
