Not surprised...
I posted something similar on another thread .... Does anyone know if there are any plays ready and willing to take a theatre for a limited engagement for the summer now that Heidi Chronicles (and possibly Living On Love, as is rumored) will close in early May? Both theatres are reserved later in the year but what will happen all summer?
Not surprised either, but it does make me sad.
Too bad. I really wanted to see this in June. It's not surprising.
The next few weeks will be a bloodbath with Zhivago, Living on Love and It Shoulda Been You more than likely posting closing notices.
This is so sad

Sad, but it's the industry the actors work in and it's the industry that we love. Things like this will happen.
They couldn't even wait another week for Tony nominations to come out in hopes of a box office boost?
^ That's the really sad thing but they do have next week to see what happens and get whatever they can get!
ebontoyan I hope Living on Love can stick it out till June! Keeping fingers crossed!!
I doubt it will last till the Tony awards (6/7)!
Didn't Leap of Faith hold out till it got it's nomination - and then closed before the awards anyway?

I don't know, I liked IT SHOULDA BEEN YOU well enough, but didn't think it had any awards caliber. That being said, it has been picking up steam these past couple days, even with Fun Home not up for a bunch of things. Tuesday will tell.
(They probably won't win any (unless its for set) but nominations help:)

OP- Chronicles is plural, not possessive.
ISHBY ain't going anywhere soon. Some nominations for awards with the Tonys yet to come. Everyone expected putrid reviews and it got better than expected notices. Jury is out on Living. It will not have a long run but may hang thru the summer.

The NY Times piece tells us that the show will have closed after 80 performances.
In actuality, it will have played 53 performances and 27 previews.
Does the author of this piece not know the difference between previews and regular performances? Or is this paper simply no longer making the distinction between them?
And this is considered our paper "of record?"
All the news that's fit to print-even if it is incorrect
After Eight, I take it you weren't a fan of The Heidi Chronicles? :)
"Regardless of the wording, 53 and 27 is, in fact, 80. With what appears in the newspapers daily, you can probably place your worry elsewhere. "
That's really nasty, for no reason. Totally classless and uncalled for.

Out of all the things that get said on a daily basis on this board, THIS is what you have an issue with?

Congratulations on your math skills.
The problem is, wording IS important, accuracy in reporting IS important, correct statistics ARE important.
If the, ahem, "standards" of the Times were now to be used, then the whole list of play runs would have to be revised.
Strange as this may seem, there are still a dwindling few of us on this earth who actually care about the truth.

Somebody needs to start a Kickstarter campaign to move this show to the Lortel. Do it for Elisabeth!

As opposed to the standards of The Observer?
