Heidi at TLM Tonight?

Oh, I saw Christopher J. Hanke there tonight, and I thought maybe he was there because he was going on for Prince Eric, but duh, then I realized he and Heidi were on the "The Full Monty" tour together, so that makes sense. I didn't notice anyone else. Although this guy on the front row looked rather familiar, but I don't know.

Anyone know who the conductor was tonight?

In a word amAHzing.... what a great performance from a phenomenal girl...

As others have said, she absolutely stole the show. It was so great to see everyone responding to her so wonderfully. Her timing was absolutely brilliant and she sang the crap out of it. Also, keeping in mind that when someone is added to a show, they never get to perform on stage with the whole cast until the first performance so it was great to see her shinning so brilliant.

I am for one a fan of the show. I know that it may not be the greatest and there are some issues, but i loved it. I have seen the show 4 times now, and this was by far the most brilliantly charged performance of the Disney musical that I have seen.

Having Heidi perform poor unfortunate souls was truly a dream come true.

I went to see her afterwards and we shared a great moment and she was so happy that everyone was so excited for her, she was on cloud 9.

Everyone go see her and tell her hi, she will love it

I must not think the problems are actualy problems, because I never really saw any major issues with the show. Eeeks!

Out of all for times this was the best? Hm... I'm just not seeing what you're all seeing. Where's the spark? Where's the magic? If it was "Ursula: the musical" then I'd be all for it, but it's not her story.

What time did rushers get there today? And do they accept college and high school ID?

My friend didn't get rush until around 3pm and got some of the last front row seats. I assume it will not be nearly as hard to get rush for future days because there were lots of people there just for Heidi's first show. I think they only accept college ID but don't take my word for it.

The guy was kind of an ass, but I got side seats around 4pm. They were great seats.

So does anyone know who the conductor was tonight?

THE LITTLE MERMAID's rush policy is 1 ticket per ID (college students only.)

A rather negative review of Blickenstaff has popped up on ATC, but I'm happy to hear such positive reports on this board.

Looking forward to seeing her sometime soon!

Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

Can you copy and paste it? I didn't see Sherie, so I'm curious to know the differences in the two performances, but I thought she was the best thing about the show. Should could have used a tad bit more energy, but I liked her a lot.

The post on ATC baffles me. I had pretty high expectations for Heidi tonight, and she exceeded them.

I thought her voice was phenominal. She started out a little slow in "I Want The Good Times Back", but she was on fire by the end of it. Her "Poor Unfortunate Souls" as well as the two reprises were phenominal, and I thought her high notes were the best parts.

She was quite the evil sea witch and also managed to bring in plenty of laughs with her great comedic timing. Overall, a truly wonderful performance tonight by Ms. Blickenstaff.

I just posted this response on ATC

As one of the "self-proclaimed tossers"...

I think Blickenstaff was quite good actually, but i do concede that some of her vocals were a little weaker than I had anticipated. But after spending some time with her this evening, i realized that it was due to lack of time and preparation with the whole cast, and that is a lot for one person to handle.

For those that dont know... when you are being rehearsed in to a show that is already running you are not given full rehearsals with everyone, they are very minimal and with those that are essential in your scenes. So in time she will probably grow into the full capacity of the role. I thought her acting was spot on, and had clearly made some decisions about what she wanted to do.

Whats interesting about Heidi taking the role, was that she was the 1st Understudy originally for the production, but never went on due to leaving the show for Title of Show, so she was there for all the original rehearsals and would have been following all of SRS's decisions, so she knew what she was differing and had her reasons, and I really LOVED Them all.

That all said, i am a GIGANTIC Heidi fan, and a good friend, so i am VERY biased but I still think she did a fantastic job!

Love Hiedi, but honestly: could NOT sit through LM again. Not for ANYONE.

I wish her the best!

Heidi was INCREDIBLE! She was absolutely hysterical and she blew the roof off the house. Sierra is still giving 150% a year and a half into the show, and Sean Palmer was absolutely terrific. Norm Lewis was wonderful, and Eddie Korbich is a total joy. The audience was dead for most of the show, but Heidi got a great entrance applause, much applause after her numbers, and an immediate standing ovation at curtain call. She was SO excited to see people cheering her on at curtain call and especially at the stage door. She was beaming.

People at ATC have it out for [tos], so they were going to post something negative no matter what.

I have to agree with everyone that Heidi was truly brilliant last night. The show might be a bit of a stinker, but Heidi makes it worth sitting through.

Plus, as WBaF mentioned, Sierra is not walking through AT ALL, and her vocals sound wonderful. It also should be said that Norm Lewis is the nicest man in Broadway. He could not have spent more time with all the kids at the stagedoor, and he definitely comes off as a class act guy.

Congrats to Heidi on such a wonderful first performance. I look forward to going back and seeing her grow in the role.

Marie: Don't be in such a hurry about that pretty little chippy in Frisco. Tony: Eh, she's a no chip!

So does anyone know who the conductor was tonight?
I think it was Greg Anthony... if I remember correctly.

Heidi was wonderful. She brought so much spark to the role and although she's not the best vocally, it didn't affect anything. She can sing the role fine and I prefer her choices over Sherie's. I enjoy Sherie a lot and love her dry humor but it never quite fit with Ursula for me. Heidi is hysterical and yet still evil and I thought her performance was great!

I am so glad to hear positive thing about TLM, I am a fan, but am not blind to the faults of the show. I would love to see Heidi in this role and am very jealous of those of you who get to see it.
Enjoy!!

I definitely agree! I'm a huge fan of his, and I was so excited to get to meet him, because he was the first actor I ever got the opportunity to meet in person, and he was so warm and friendly. I think he really appreciates how exciting it is to see a Broadway show for the first time!

See, I found the rest of the cast pretty boring.Eddie Korbich just creeped me out. I think it was because sitting that close I could see all the make-up and the wig. I don't know. he just creeped me out, and his whole character was just utterly annoying. Norm Lewis was decent in his scenes, and of course his voice was flawless, but I felt like the scene at the end when he "banishes" Ariel and throws her to the floor was just weak. Maybe it was due to the crappy lighting or staging, but the whole scene felt false and weak. Sean Palmer has a great voice, and he's doing the best he can with such a thankless role. I just wish his musical numbers were better directed. They're just sort of "blah." And Sierra was alright. Her voice was great, but a lot of her lines seemed rush and unimportant.

For anyone who was there-can you explain the stageing at the end when Ursula gets vanished or melts or whatever...I just want to see if there is a perminent change in that scene or if it was different on Sunday because it was Sherie's last day. Thanks!

Instead of melting, Sherie was shot by a stage manager and bled to death on stage for the rest of the show while cast members stepped over her in their Heelys. They just left her dead body there after the final curtain - a lot of people stayed for a while to see if she was really dead.

I heard a couple families complaining loudly and expressing shock while their children cried loudly - how RUDE of them! Luckily the House Manager dealt with the problem quickly and efficiently. Inconsiderate parents should teach their brats theatre etiquette before they ruin someone else's experience (especially someone who paid good money to see the show - student rush is EXPENSIVE these days!)

It's pretty much the reverse of what happens in Wicked. Ursula just goes down a trap door and that's it. The whole "action sequence" is pretty much over in five minutes.

I think the problem with the show is it doesn't have that "wow" factor. Lion King has the beginning of the show, Mary Poppins has her flying over the audience, and Beauty and the Beast had the transformation, but poor Little Mermaid has nothing.

And question, someone is actually credited with doing the "aerial stunts" in the show? You mean the waving your hands around while you fall to the stage? Lame.

... I thought Eric's drowning was pretty cool. *bows head in shame*

But Ariel's transformation was lame.

The drowning was cool at first, but then there's that huge, obvious hook holding him up, so it makes it less cool.

I thought the guy playing Sebastian was great though. He had such a nice natural tone to his voice.
