I ended up getting a floor ticket for $35. The box office person said that's not usually the case, but it's all dependent on box office discretion (so I'm guessing things like demand and availability).

''Here Lies Love'' couldn't even afford to stay open if they were concentrating their efforts on selling dance-floor tickets for $35. That would be a financial fiasco.

Quizking, did you get to see the Imelda alternate on a Tuesday night, then? i guess maybe they do release some floor dance tickets for the 35 rush price on weeknights. that seems to not be the case on weekends. also, i didn't realize the floor could hold 500 people. i guess it can, maybe it just has been underfilled the times i've seen the show. the box office person said the reconfiguration brings the theatre's capacity to about 1111. i believe they still have all of the mezz seats, i know they have about 150 of the floor level seats - i counted, there are 39 chairs in each row, and there are 4 rows, so this should actually bring it to 156, give or take. there are about 20 seats in the vip box. quizking, i did send you a private message as well

That is frankly a stupid idea since the dance floor is the centerpiece of the whole show. I would think they’d rather see that full before the seats, and if there are more seated people than dancers, it would look very unbalanced and weird. Plus, by my best estimate, roughly 44% (219 of approx 500 standing spots) have been sold for tonight’s show, which makes for a rather empty dance floor.
I’m going to give it a go when I get out of my taping of THE VIEW because, as tall as I am, I can’t sit in those seats and also something was definitely lost when I sat in that VIP box."
Asked a friend who is one of the crowd control folks in the pink jumpsuits and they said it's 300 capacity on the dance floor, not 500.

the number of dance spots must be 300 or around this number. i went on telecharge and counted the number of mezz seats, it is about 777 total. about 150 dance floor chair tickets and about 20 vip box seats is another about 170. that brings it to around 925 or so. if the capacity is indeed around 1111, that would mean there are around 200 or 300 for the dance floor. when the person said the total capacity was 1111, she may not have been completely accurate. it could be 1211 or 1250 or 1175, who knows. but it seems safe to say that the number is not 500 and closer to 200 or 300. it sure didn't seem like more than 300 anytime i've seen the show, but that has only been on weekends. it does seem doubtful that this show is going to survive long term, the summer tourists were the best demographic to boost this show, and they're gone now. i do wonder what the operating costs are, the show has a lot of costumes but not a lot of sets, at least conventional sets like other shows. the fact that it is only 90 min i would think would mean that labor is less, but the labor you would need would be more highly skilled labor - technicians, mechanics, lightning specialists in case something goes wrong. maybe that's why they didn't want to pay any musicians in the beginning.

When I look at the floor tickets on Telecharge, I don't see any locations or rows/numbers, but I feel like at one time I did seat number when I selected a "seat" on the floor. If the capacity is 300 tickets on the floor and people have seen numbers higher than 300, then maybe the first 100 or 200 numbers aren't used in the naming of tickets on sale.
If you go to Broadway Direct, there is a rectangle of dots (four rows of 25) for the floor standing tickets. The first two rows are named row 4 and are numbered 1-25 and 26-50, the second two rows are named row 5 and are numbered 1-25 and 26-50. For the other sections in the house, the tickets available on Broadway Direct seem to match what is available in Telecharge. My guess is that they have access to the same seats and that means there are definitely 100 floor tickets available online. As for the other 200 tickets - there are probably some held as house seats until close to the show, some that are on sale through other ticketing sources that aren't accessing the Telecharge pool of tickets (like TodayTix) and this avoids overbooking, and some tickets held for digital lottery and/or rush.
Bringing this back on topic, the only time I did in-person rush was on Aug 10. (That was when they were always selling floor rush for $35.) Someone mentioned being sold a floor ticket recently for $69. I wonder if that's a "new" floor rush price or a price available for the next couple of weeks because of Broadway week. I understand that selling tons of $35 tickets isn't sustainable on Broadway, but if they want to have a new floor rush price, I wish it could be just a little cheaper than $69!

I arrived at the box office today (Saturday, 9/30) around 10:25 and was able to secure a rush ticket for the floor for today’s matinee. Not sure if that’s because this performance didn’t sell well, but wanted to let people know that they still do sell the floor for rush.

I'd argue that the best way to see ''Here Lies Love'' is from the dance floor. How many other shows can you get arguably the best view for $69? And $69 is still a Broadway bargain! (Have you SEEN the ''Merrily'' prices?)
