I hate to say it..but I actually enjoyed this movie. I realize that it's cheesy, but it was very cute, made me smile. lol. I've had that song Breaking Free stuck in my head for a while.

According to a blurb in my newest issue of Entertainment Weekly, High School Musical scored the highest rating EVER for Disney channel with 7.7 million viewers. Also, the soundtrack was #1 on both iTunes and Amazon.com.

I really don't think I'd consider any kind of tomatos a good thing.
Anyways I downloaded a few of the songs and saw part of it on TV, and I must say it looks pretty good. I was kinda scared though when I found out it was the #1 soundtrack on iTunes.

I thought it was pretty bad. The story was very unoriginal, and I just...wasn't impressed. "Breaking Free" was an okay song, and "Status Quo" was fine, but other than that, I thought it was horrible. Especially the scene about where she likes the view? Annoyed me a lot.
Oh, well. To each their own. I'm one of the only one of my friends obsessing over Jersey Boys right now.

i saw it and it was so cheesey. there was really only two good song and (Breaking Free and Status Quo). it isn't something you'd want to watch over and over again.
you say i'm weird! look at everyone you're sitting with! and hey, those guys over there just threw napkins up in the air like they were on something! it's contajous! you can't help it!

YES YES YES! I HAVE HEARD OF THIS MOVIE AND I HAVE SEEN IT TWICE. IT IS VERY GOOD, IN MY OPINION. IT IS A MIxTURE BETWEEN POP AND BROADWAY. I LOVE THE SONGS AND DANCE MOVES AND I RECOMEND THAT YOU WATCH IT IF YOU CAN. SOME THINGS ARE CHEEZY BUT SOMETHINGS IN BROADWAY, AND SHOWCHOIR, CAN BE. IF YOU WANT TO SEE IT YOU CAN CHECK OUT THE DISNEY CHANNEL SCHEDULE.

Btw, Ashley Tisdale (who plays Sharpay) has actually been in the US tour of Les Mis as young Cosette... she was also in Annie.
Granted, I haven't been impressed by any of the singers I've heard... 'cept for the kid in Stick to the Status Quo.

I agree with Popular Elphie. The story was so unoriginal, the main kid had a voice double, and the songs themselves were just..ehh. I mean in the Status Quo song this guy says how he like to play the cello, then his friend asks what a cello is. I mean come on you cannot not know what a cello is.

I liked it. It was cheesy, the singing voices were obviously dubbed, but it was cute. And I've had Breaking Free stuck in my head all week.

I totally take back what I said in a previous board about this movie. I've seen it 4 times now, and I'm totally addicted to the soundtrack. First time I saw it, I was like "this is so bad"... second time "this is so bad... it's good!" and from then on I've loved it. Something about it has made me and everyone I know love it. I suggest you all give it a second (or third) chance if you didn't like it.
