I saw a preview and it made me kinda of scared.

I don't know what preview you saw, but the preview I saw was like 3sec.

Huh? Are you talking about those original movies Disney makes, like the Zenon ones, and this one is gonna be called High School Musical? Being in college, I haven't watched much TV in the past few months.

I just heard about it on this thread. I believe it's going to be a Disney Original like Zenon etc. I googled "High School Musical" and was led to one of the actress' website and their is a (teaser) trailer of the movie.

yeah its on Disney and stars a girl from Suite Life of Zach and Cody, I read about in one of my little sister's Disney Adventure magazines and I was like- Oh no. Then I saw this semi trailer for it and it was really stupid. This basketball kid ends up in the high school's musical and like ruins his team or something, but falls in love with this girl. I dont know, it looked kinda like if you watch it and know musicals you'll groan- alot.

i'll probably watch it, i watch most of them for the pure enjoyment of making fun of them after it's done(i.e. Cheetah Girls)

Yes, I do enjoy Disney Original Movies- dont get me wrong- I grew up on them, but this one just seems kind of like its gonna be a kind of mockery of musicals and kids who do musicals- like having a jock kid ruin his basketball carrer for musical seems kind of far fetched.

Its safe to say that the credibility of Disney Channel Origial Movies (DCOM) has slipped significantly in the past few years. When the initial idea of releasing a childrens film a month on TV premiered on Disney Channel the movies were of a quality slightly below major theatre release. However, now they are only slightly above the quality of a car dealership commercial.

Nonetheless, the story doesn't seem incredibly far fetched. A good friend of mine was a wrestler and well known jock at his high school and quit the team to star in a production of Bye Bye Byrdie. Now he is persuing a full time career in the field. So as long as Disney is nice to us theatre folk then perhaps this wont be as painful as everyone (myself) is expecting.

Either way, I'll tune in.

DVKid, you're absolutely right.
They definitely used to be pretty good. Most of the ones nowadays are pretty atrocious, and some of the acting is worse than third-grade plays.

But, alas, I still watch and sometimes enjoy them.
This one should be fun.
