They must be at the bottom of their list. Have all their top choices passed? Bowl tickets when on sale 3 weeks ago and still no cast announced. They must be down to the likes of John Stamos and Susan Anton.
That's a shame, wonder why, obviously the roles are amazing but maybe no one wants to be associated with this particular production. It sounded like such a potentially exciting idea on paper.
Don't they usually wait this long to announce the cast? Think about all they celebrity schedules they are dealing with- it must be a nightmare trying to find a cast that can all be in the same place at the same time.
No. By now they usually have announced something and then start making announcements of more names as they go along. I hope they surprise us with a really cool cast. But this has been going out in the breakdowns for months.

If you are Roxy then I must be your Velma.

Surely, they are going after 'names' that have done the show before, yes? If not, it's not surprising that most would pass at having to learn a dance show with such a limited rehearsal schedule.
Namo can be Billy if I can be Hunyak
Can we please get a Real Housewife as Roxy already. It would make perfect sense.

If they get Lisa Kudrow and Mira Sorvino, I'd sell my liver to fly out and see it.
Corine Cohen as Mary Sunshine.
If they cannot find any of the celebrities they were looking for, there are plenty of talented people who can fill in in a pinch...such as the members of the Chicago tour cast. Just saying...from RC in Austin, Texas
Threadjack, but Phyllis, I'm begging you to change back your avatar. Who wants to be reminded of that OTHER thread your avatar is i reference to.

LOL. I usually only go forward with avatars. Kyle's avatar is dead. Just like Kyle!
Patti: The Bowl sits 18,000 people. They need to address that with their casting.
This seems like a bad idea for a Hollywood Bowl production: no sets, no costumes and much of the audience a mile away from the stage. Couldn't they have chosen a show that's more visually interesting? Chicago is NOT a show I'd want to see at the Bowl--I think it requires a more intimate venue.
There is always Liza and Chita-- and Dream Velma and Dream Roxie

You are assuming that they are doing the revival version. They are not. Brooke Shields talked about it yesterday on The View.
I would fly to LA to see Liza and Chita in Chicago. Even if they didn't dance it, it would be worth it.
Regarding Patti LuPone FANatic's remark about using talented no-names like the Chicago touring cast... while they are undoubtedly great performers, using them would be defeating the purpose of the Hollywood Bowl musical, which is to be sort of a "community theatre for celebrities" in which performers who want to do a stage show but can't make the commitment can do a show in an (expectedly) all-star cast for a very packed house.
The "starry" feel of the production is an important part of the aesthetic. You don't go to Hollywood Bowl expecting the best Chicago you ever saw- you go for the Hollywood treatment.
Thanks, Dame, but I missed The View yesterday. Come to think of it, I miss The View every day.
On purpose.
Kidding aside, this just doesn't excite me regardless of the casting. Jinkx Monsoon as Velma Von Tussle in Seattle's Hairspray In Concert. Now that is genius casting worth flying across the country for!
Valerie Bertinelli, Lisa Whelchel, Ja'Net Dubois, and Scott Baio!
