Genius! Almost as perfect as the Skyfall honest trailer.

The only funny thing about this is the joke about the title of the film, the rest of it is incredibly tasteless and disrespectful, an unapologetic insult to the art of musical filmmaking.

Well I kind of agree it wasn't funny but mostly because when they say the movie feels 20 years long or Ann Hathaway really really really wanted an Oscar it's so accurate it's not much of a punchline. Les Miserable sucks donkey balls.

That was exhausting. The credits were the funniest part (and unfortunately they're at the end).

Oh my God, that was awesome. Their impressions of the actors' singing were pretty spot-on, too.

Jimmy, what are you doing here in the middle of the night? It's almost 9 PM!

In what way tasteless?

In it's disregard to the artistry of the film and all of the passion and handwork it went into it.

By that definition, anything that parodies any work is tasteless.

All of, say, "Forbidden Broadway."

I'm so sick of your incessant chatter on things you don't understand nor know nothing about.

"and handwork"

By handwork do you mean the poor camera men on that film who had to shove a camera into the actors' faces for however many months it took to shoot this film and never get a chance to actually put the camera on a tripod for two seconds?

Ok, maybe I overreacted, the video just made me VERY angry! I'm beyond obsessed with Les Mis and the film, so I tend to be very defensive about it. I know it's not a healthy conduct, but hey! We all have our weak spots.

Still I'm not a fan of cheap comedies, and appreciate parody only when it exhibits high levels of talent and wit, like the Christine Pedi Les Mis parody, which I can't stop watching.

Meh.

Well let me tell ya son, there was more "talent" on display in that 4 minute joke than in that 6 hour movie. That movie sucked. There's a grand total of about 6 minutes of decent music and they hid it in the middle of a giant turd. If you're going to fly off the handle every time some one criticizes Les Sh!terables you are going to get VERY tired as everyone but you and Tobe Hoopers Mom recognized it for the waste of celluloid it was.

Exaggerate much, Joe? While I thought it was far from perfect, I still enjoyed a great deal of it -- as did many people.

(But the other stuff you said gets a big thumbs up from me.)

Just to comment about the close ups on the actors during songs... the actors sang live. There was most probably a boom mic right above them to catch their singing, making it difficult to take wider shots and film solos from different directions. Not saying it would've been impossible, but it makes sense.

Sorry, boggess, that's not an excuse. Rex Harrison sang live on set for My Fair Lady and Cukor didn't need to stick a camera a foot from his face to get the shots he needed. Non-musical films also have the actors speaking live, and, again, most of those don't have 95% of the shots being close-ups of the actors' nostrils. It's what they invented wireless microphones for.

And if a boom mic in the shot was an issue they could have easily erased it digitally the same way they did with all of the earpieces the cast was wearing to hear the pianist.

For whatever reason Hooper decided that was the way he wanted the film to look and will have to live with the fact that a lot of people found it off-putting and tiresome once we realized that the whole movie was indeed going to be spent with those camera angles.

All very true. I'm not defending it completely because I do agree it was a poor directorial choice. I was just able to forgive more after realizing that.

Hilarious and honest. LM's whole recorded-live process was a conceit and an error. Crowe's performance alone proves that.
