Happy opening to HMiV! I wish this show and any JRB show well for that matter, I'm all booked up for this weekend when I'll be in the city seeing shows, but hope this manages to get decent reviews and can limp to the TONYs and not be part of the January slaughter -to be able to settle into a comfortable run until Labor Day. I really want to see this show and am pulling for it! I'm guessing the reviews will be mixed to positive...

Positive, but the BULLETS OVER BROADWAY reference is unfortunate.

One reviewer mentioned it should have opened sooner. This seems to be the general consensus.Has been for some time.

Brantley didn't reverse himself?
Shocking I say.
Just shocking.

maybe, just maybe this doesn't close in a week. maybe.
Based on these reviews, what nominations could it end up getting come Awards Season?
Best Musical?
Lead Actor (Rob McClure)?
Original Score?
Choreography?
Orchestrations?

That's a knockout review from Brantley. I really hope the show catches on.
I can't believe Brantley singled out the skin cancer song in a positive way.

None, to be realistic. It has so much competition: Fun Home, Something Rotten!, The Visit, It Shoulda Been You, Neverland, plus all the revivals for the other categories.
How could such 'meh' reviews give them any boost? It's just throwing money out the window really.
