David Hyde Pierce is out of the Matinee today but Michael McCormick is doing a fantastic job. What a fun show.

Maybe he was rehearsing for the Tonys. I hope he's back in it tonight.

I saw the show on Saturday night, May 6th and Bette was fantastic!  Incredible.  David HP was out that night.
Since he was out this afternoon according to the posts here, I wonder if he'll be performing tonight?

that may be the case nealb1. I am going to try to get standing room tomorrow and hoping that he'll be in tomorrow but honestly not banking on anything.

If you do standing room tomorrow, will the box office know when they open if he'll be out?

not too sure, not a dealbreaker to be honest although it would be a plus if he was in.

I agree.  We were disappointed when we saw the sign in the lobby that he was out, but his understudy was very, very good.  And, Bette gave him the final bow.

Jeffrey Karasarides said: "So I was able to get some tickets to Hello, Dolly! for next Saturday night, and I want to know how good of a attendance record Bette Midler has had so far. I'm sure almost everyone in the cast will do their best to be present throughout all of next weekend because of the Tonys, but I'd like to make sure.

"So what did you think Jeffrey...unfortunately DHP was out but Bette was most certainly in...

There isnt much of a show without Bette.

A curious evening. She does barely enough to keep the interest.

I had a great time at the show tonight! I can't believe how much energy Bette Midler still has at the age of 71. Michael McCormick went on for David Hyde Pierce, and I thought he did a great job.

"Glad you finally got to see it...did it live up to your expectations? Yes, Bette commands the stage with endless energy at 71!

Saw the show last night and loved it. Saw Merman 4 times as a kid so the show holds a special place, and I wasn't disappointed. That score is heaven and the book was a pleasure to listen to. Audience gave just the right enthusiasm. A lovely night.

Never thought about Tony weekend before in terms of missing certain actors but, as noted here, David Hyde Pierce was out last night. And, as others have noted, lead actors of Dear Evan Hansen and Great Comet were out as well, so I'll avoid that weekend from now on.

Off the topic: had to use the restroom at intermission. I was in the Mezz. There was a long line on the staircase to a men's room that has 2 urinals, I was told. I left that line and ran to the lower level. There I found a huge line as well. I ran back upstairs to check the original line I was on. No luck. Held it in for 2nd Act. Hey, Shuberts, some new plumbing? Especially since my friends paid $599 a ticket last night!! I was so appalled, I even spoke to some ushers about it. They were very nice but, of course, helpless.

Agreed.  And I don't know how someone hasn't taken a huge fall on those stairs .  The steps are small.

Some of the older houses' bathrooms are terrible. I'm assuming a renovation would cost major $$$ just to increase the size of the bathrooms.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

Try being a woman!!  The ladies room line was the worst I've seen due to limited "fixtures" (and that included Hamilton and many other theatres with sold out shows).

Here's a tip on bathrooms. You can use Sardi's (right across the street). They have an arrangement with the Shubert. I was concerned that my mother (in her wheelchair) might need to go at intermission, so I was ready. Right next door to the main entrance of Sardi's is their elevator entrance. It is labeled as such. Just go in, take the elevator to to the fourth floor. No lines. Fortunately, we didn't need to use it at intermission. From now on, I'm using it whenever I'm at at a theater in that area and lines are long.
