Posted: 5/27/08 at 12:10pmI'm sure it is. The show is brilliant. It's the best new score this season.

It's a really nice recording. The orchestrations sound phenomenal and the cast is pitch-perfect.
The score has it's flaws and they become a bit clearer when taken out of context, but it is an overall successful recording.

Posted: 5/27/08 at 1:33pmI've had it for a couple weeks now. I haven't seen the show, but love the cast recording.

Posted: 5/27/08 at 3:54pmI adore Bucchino's music but I find his lyrics to be awful at times. However, I still plan on buying it for his music.

Posted: 5/27/08 at 3:57pmI really don't see how people found this show boring...it's anything but. There are a lot more boring shows on Broadway that got a cavalcade of raves. This show is so not boring...

Posted: 5/27/08 at 4:11pmHaven't seen the show, but I bought the cast recording because I'm somewhat of a collector. I listened to it this morning on my way downtown and found the score to be quite enjoyable. Really nice work by Faith Prince, Leslie Kritzer, and Matt Cavenaugh (though I felt he was underused...not sure how it plays into the story though.) My favorite songs were "One White Dress", "Vision", and "I Stayed". Just my two cents. Updated On: 2/15/14 at 04:11 PM

Posted: 5/27/08 at 4:41pmI was unimpressed, it reminds me more of a cute little off-broadway review than what I was hoping for. If that is the type of thing you like, then you will love it, otherwise it is just one more recording to add to the collection and forget about.

Speaking of which, did anyone buy this recording off of iTunes?
I got a physical copy, but it isn't downloading the artwork for me in iTunes, and Amazon and Buy.com only has the older pre-release artwork (it has only the plain cream background, instead of the acutal release with the Bronx cityscape in the back).
iTunes has the newer, correct cover, and this is the one I'd like to put as my album art (as I like to put up the artwork that matches correctly with my iTunes stuff. So I'm a*** retentive!)
If any of you can help me, drop me a message please.

Posted: 5/27/08 at 8:58pmI really like it. It is not a perfect score, but most of it is absolutely stunning, notably "Married", "One White Dress" and "Coney Island."

Go out and buy it.
While it's not perfect, it's worth every cent.

I think it is fantastic. It have pretty much not stopped listening to it since I got it about two weeks ago. Sadly, I think that will all end today with South Pacific and Passing Strange entering the iPod! That, however, will not stop the desire listening to the ACA cast recording gave me to see the show when I am up in the city in a few weeks.
BTW...buy the physical disc...great piece by Jesse Green in the booklet.

The genius of the score is lost on too many people, I'm afraid..
It's not "square"...meaning the composer doesn't shoehorn his lyrics into one meter.
He adjusts the meter to let the lyric sing. Which makes it feel organic, yet jarring.
It enhances the tension.
Many people have said it doesn't seem melodic...but if you listen closely (I always say 3x's before you judge) you will hear that melodies are very character specific and all come together.
The prologue music IS the score. It's fun how all of the pieces fall in place.
The CR is brilliant, and tries it's best to express the fluidity between dialog and music.
The whole show is fluid and subtle. And wonderful. IMO
It's all about the egg...

I actually love Bucchino's score.. its just Harvey's voice is really annoying! (oops..sorry to say that!~ I said the same thing in my Report) iMO- I just wish they had someone played the part and I will have no complain!
Honestly... I only listened to it once, its good that someone gave it to me as a gift! I really doubt if I would listen to it again.
