I doesn't seem to be selling and they literally just gave tix out to the entire plaza on the today show... just seemed a bit desperate

New shows often do that. At least 1/2 won't be able to take them up on the offer.
But who knows...it's a little early to determine a flop.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

It still grossed over $750K last week, which is on par with On Your Feet!'s numbers in that same house for the better part of two years.
I see it going until at least the end of the year. It's tourist heaven.

This show made a stop in Chicago at some point last year, and I didn't see it for two reasons:
1) At the time, I was very low on money, and
2) There seemed to not be very much about it that attempted to reach out and grab me in, anyway.

I wondered about that too! The performance on the Today show was lively, though, and I'm sure that's what they are going for.

The negativity on this board seems a little much. I saw this show last Saturday. If you are a Jimmy Buffet fan, you'll probably enjoy it.
I think they did a good job opening up Buffet's most famous tune (Margaritville). I've been humming it all week.

The negativity you refer to is not negativity at all. One can enjoy a show and still analyze its prospects.

Actually, the remarks ARE negative since many are coming from people who haven't seen the show yet. Everyone is entitled to post their opinion once they've seen it, as long as it's well tempered and respectful. It it is something that you have no interest in seeing, that's fine too. It's possible to be critical without being just rude, unpleasant and personal.
