I took the train out there to see HELLO, DOLLY! a couple years ago.

Even I've been and I live in Edinburgh! Saw Pippin there. It isn't eactly difficult to get to. I am not sure of the intent behind the question. I am sure people in the local area know about it. Places outside of Manhatten are allowed to have theatres you know.

When I was a little boy, one of the very first shows I saw was Liza Minnelli in Carnival at The Paper Mill Playhouse. Years later, my family moved to Maplewood, the neighboring town.

The question wasn't meant to sound judgmental or imply that theater doesn't exist outside of New York. I was just curious if people from New York, knew and attended theater there. As those who have ventured out to Millburn know, it's very easy to get to.

I just wanted to know.

The last time I went there was for Ragtime, which was an utter delight. I haven't been quite as interested in their lineups since, but if they put on a great show like that again, I'll come. It's really very accessible by train.

I would go see a show there but with the train ticket from Long Island into the city and the train ticket there plus the theatre ticket it is hard for me to afford as a college student with little money.

The last time I was there was for Anything Goes, which was a delight. Love, love their Thursday matinees. I remember calling up the box office to make sure tickets were available, caught the train, bought ticket in person, was awed that there was boat parking, and made it back to Manhattan by 730pm. I actually went to the TKTS booth and bought a ticket to Annie Get Your Gun for that evening.

If the show was interesting enough, I would definitely go. Okay, it doesn't help that it is one of the stops my train takes going into the city, but I would just have to be really interested in the show. Like I definitely am not jumping to go see High School Musical right now.

I have been going there for years. I am 24 now and have been going since I was four years old. It started with my aunt buying season tickets for the children's series. Then as I got older I started going to the mainstage performances. Now for the past 2 years I have been seeing every show in their line up. They have had some great hits and some they missed the mark a little. As for getting to the Paper Mill Playhouse it is fairly easy because I live only 10 mins away. I just hope this theater can stay open long enough for my children and grandchildren (which is very very far off) but none the less I wish them another 70 years! :)

I made the trip from NYC recently for Oklahoma. Definitely a cute little area and a nice theatre.

I've done it several times -- Show Boat, Mack and Mabel, Follies and one or two others that I can't remember the names of offhand. It was a pain in the a__ to get to, although the town itself is nice and the theatre very attractive. Since the NJ Transit has now added Secaucus to its local line, I understand that you can take the train to Secaucus, transfer to a bus that will take you right there. All the times I went, however, someone drove. Based on the few I've seen, I'd say they were about 75% Broadway quality -- good for summer stock, but not the whole shebang.

well, you can take the train right to Millburn, and, if I understand correctly, the train station is not very far from the theatre.
