Posted: 5/15/08 at 9:20pmI know many disagree, but I enjoyed her Louise more than Laura Benanti's characterization. I found it more genuine, thought not as powerfully sung, and a very nice component of the production.

Posted: 5/15/08 at 9:40pmI think she did a great Natalie Wood impersonation. I don't think she was as interesting as Benanti or previous Louise's. Better than Claire Moore though but for me, that's not saying much.

Better than Claire Moore though but for me, that's not saying much.

Tammy Blanchard was the best acted Louise I have seen.
And she had the bod to make the character believable.
Benanti pales in her light.

I thought she was very good...took a very different approach than Benanti is currently taking.
I prefer Benanti (the best Louise I've probably ever seen) but I thought Blanchard was much better than she got credit for.

- Better than Zan?? Before Laura, I've always heard Zan was probably the best Louise.
But it looks like Laura will be the first Gypsy to ever win the Tony.

Haven't seen Benanti yet, so, I can't compare.
I loved Tammy Blanchard.

Winning the TONY doesn't make you the best.
And after she wins, she better keep showing up.
I also loved Zan's Louise over Laura's.
It's all in the momentum of the season.
I thought Benanti was incredible in NINE and she wasn't even nominated, all in the timing kids.

When did I ever say Benanti winning the Tony would make her the best Gypsy ever?
But it certainly says something.
Sitting front row and experiencing Laura literally pounding her chest with her fist in the dressing room scene was one shocking and powerful moment.

Christa Moore. Claire Moore is an actual performer (Phantom of the Opera), just mixed up the names.
Christa Moore is one of my least favorite performers of all time. Probably why I forgot her name.

The difference between Crista Moore and Laura Benanti is the difference between acting and schmacting. In that order.
Tammy Blanchard was a disappointment.

I really enjoyed Ms. Blanchard's performance in the last revival.
That being said, Ms. Benanti's performance in the current revival is just incredible, IMO. She blows the competition out of the water for me.

Blanchard seemed to be more like a real person... she wasn't giving a musical comedy performance but a real characterization... I think. Laura is really wonderful too, but more in the larger than life musical theater sense. Completely different styles, both totally succesful... I think!
Foster is a jerk and mostly an idiot. Just ignore him. It does wonders for the complexion.
