How will Chris Columbus show the male-male kisses in RENT? — Page 6

"Sidelining or erasing of gay male affection is the classical modus operandum of libido liberals. The RENT trailer sounded the alarm and now I'm posing the question: has Chris Columbus stayed true to the male-male kisses in the stage production or not? It's a yes or no question...no ifs, no buts.
As for audience-testing of RENT, God help us. They'll have Ma and Pa Kettle in there groaning at anything that hints at male-male affection. Pass me the smelling salts for the upcoming debacle."

Pinguin, thanks I do what I can. *blush*
Justice, I thought of it more as novel with Sondheim leading the small band of auetuer composers into battle against Webber and Macintosh and the Capitalist Hordes.
Very easy read, and great information. Very far from Objective about much of anything, that trashing of Ave Q at the end was scathing.

A public meeting place for open discussion.
Not for one persons opinion, but for all of ours, if you don't want to have a discussion then go host your own message board with the disclaimer that no one else's opinion will matter.

but in our defense, there was never anything to discuss in the first place :0)

We can't be like, "well, I think in this scene Chris Columbus did this" or anything like that...'cause the movie is still in post-production!
It's just such a non-issue at this point...
**edit** and haven't we talked about these possible issues with the producers and "Jonathan's vision" to DEATH?

A discussion of what may have been "Larson's vision" is much more interesting, while equally speculative. There is a good chance the movie has been "mainstreamed," I know I was very disappointed that Columbus got the job. There is not any evidence of this from the existing information, if anything it is being advertized as an "oscar bait" film, which would imply pushing the envelope and including all of the "taboo" subject matter.

This type of specualtion is tedious because, especially this early you can "support" any opinion.

At a certain point, there's nothing more to discuss...so while I appreciate your sentiment, zannah, I prefer my angry penguin images :0)

As I said you may have legit concerns, but Columbus is not here. No one who has seen the movie YET is likely to be here, take your concerns expres them rationally and move on.
