My feeling is that he is trying to keep people from watching the movie, that he is actually a homophobic stooge planted to try to keep "those liberals and such" from supporting their "gay themed entertainment"
Definitely seems to be his goal Emcee, I still wonder what the end is that he is using this mean to reach.

While we complain about religious conservatives using legal means to repress gays, we tend to forget that liberals are out there working to keep gay/bi men as "uncool" as possible. The cultural demagoguery used by liberals to demonize gay/bi men is almost on a par with the demagoguery associated wtih conservatives.

Are these actually "liberals" though Art, it sounds like a similar syndrome to the men who support "women's empowerment" for their own sexual reasons. So you seem to be lumping a general societal problem as a specifically anti-homosexual problem.
Which distraxts everyone from the legal and life destroying actions taken by the empowered conservatives.
It is still the case that the positive display of a loving gay relationship in RENT, along with all the other "liberal" ideals in the film has the potential for positive effects.

-if that is your concern, then start some OT thread about it and write a letter to your congressman. Stop trying to get people upset about a movie that no one has seen yet. No one here is going to DENY homophobia in the movie if indeed there is homophobia screaming from the screen, but you know what? NO ONE KNOWS IF ANY HOMOPHOBIA HAS TOUCHED THE DARN THING!!!!! AAAAAGGGGGHHHHH!!! Do you have any quotes of Chris Columbus or the producers of the movie implying that they're homophobic? ANYTHING to back up your statements besides complete conjecture?

If the two penguins aren't hot enough, here is a picture of Cary Sheilds (current Broadway Roger) and myself from 1998. There isn't any kissing, but it's a very "anti-libido liberals" embrace.
And on this note, I am offically bow out of any future man on man kissing in the Rent film until I've seen it and can add something futher. Thank you all and good night.
