I miss that show so much. I miss Patti's tuba playing, Donna's creepy stare, Michael coming out of the coffin, and basically the whole darn thing. A show that amazing with that great a cast comes along once in a very long while. I know, it's been almost three years, and yes, I'm aware I need a life :)
Word.
Also, did you see Road Show? How much did you love Michael popping out of the wooden box? It made me smile.

I saw the touring show last year, I thought it was brilliant.
John Doyle and Stephen Sondheim are one of the best teams there could be.
Ditto. That production was a theatrical orgasm.

Watch the tour videos on the website. It'll make you really miss the revival cast.
I've heard people say that this was the best Non-Eq tour they have ever seen.

i wholeheartedly agree. that was an amazing experience, seeing those brilliant performers onstage doing..everything.

Judy Kaye really was the star of that show (at least the tour I saw). She was bloody brilliant.

I miss this show so so much. Even after seeing it so many times it was still so thrilling. Those are some fond memories of live theatre.
I'm not saying the cast is bad. It's just that watching them makes me miss Michael, Patti and Manoel.
I haven't seen it since Broadway, and I can't wait to see the tour in a few months. I know the tour is non-eq, but hopefully it will at least be a little bit of a nostalgia trip if nothing else.
I miss it! It was my first B-way show and it got me into theater
I miss the show more than I miss Passing Strange, which is saying a lot. I only saw it three times on Broadway, including the final performance. One of those was also during the week that Judy Kaye filled in for LuPone. I caught the Equity tour in Boston on Halloween of 2007 and saw it again in Denver last June. And I'll catch the non-equity tour on Long Island next month.
I only been going to shows for about a year when I saw Sweeney and that was the show that had me completely hooked. All of the performances were brilliant and I still think back to all of the little things that John Doyle did with this production. I kept noticing new things every time I saw it.
I almost wish this revival did not exist since it basically has stopped the chance of a full scale revival with bernadette peters IMO.
Too bad raul esparza couldn't have been cerveris.

qol, everyone is entitled to their opinon, but I absolutly CANNOT see Ezparza as Sweeney. Maybe Barbara Walsh, but Raul Ezparza? I don't think so.
Although a 30th anniversary revival would be too soon, how about a full 35th anniversay revival?

Raul still looks too young.
Besides, if he had done Sweeney, he wouldn't have been Bobby.

I still feel awful that I never saw this amazing production. I hold the (sadly incomplete) cast recording very close to my heart, however.
I was underwhelmed by this production, and I think Doyle's approach worked better in Company. I like Lupone, but not as Mrs. Lovett. Didn't hate it at all, but not a huge fan.

Horrible, horrible, horrible. Doyle should be ashamed.
The best show I have ever seen. Still at the top of my list.
I adored this show!!! And was heartbroken when it closed (I had tickets for flea market weekend, and it closed at the beginning of Sept.) I could have sat through this show seveeral times---the minimalism of the set allowed me to concentrate on the lyrics more, and the acting of the entire company was superb! I loved the tour also---and saw it twice! Has it been three years? I thought it was two (since I saw the tour last year...)
