Okay. So, I am seeing (with my parents) LEGALLY BLONDE and MARY POPPINS on Wed. What should my Thursday show be?
Something different that is a musical.
XANADU

You will LOVE Legally Blonde! I would suggest either Wicked or Jersey Boys. Have fun!
For something sophisticated: see GREY GARDENS.
For something innovative: see SPRING AWAKENING.
For something fun: see XANADU.
For something historic: see A CHORUS LINE.
For Audra Macdonald: see 110 IN THE SHADE.
Oh, yes. I forgot. The trip is in August. So, your sophisticated (and the show I have tickets for) isn't possible.
I'd say go for A Chorus Line.
Careful though, Charlotte D'Amboise is getting a matinee cover because she's an unprofessional *****
Yeah, that is what I am leaning torward.
QUESTION:
How dirty is SPRING AWAKENING?
I don't want an awkward experience for my parents and I.

See Spring Awakening, its VERY different from the shows you are seeing, you can say you saw the Best Musical, and you will be seeing something very big, often discussed, and (in my estamation) wonderful.
*** SPOILERS THAT SHOULD BE COMMON KNOWLEDGE BELOW ***
Pretty dirty. Language, onstage masturbation (simulated... I think), brief nudity (female breasts, male butt).
It depends on how close you are with your parents and how open-minded they are
How long does the masturbation last?
Like I said on PM...would you be comfortable watching RENT with your parents? Or maybe better, a movie with a lot of teen sex ~ perhaps American Pie with them? If not, I'd say Spring Awakening would be an uncomfortable experience.
Half a song. Actually, American Pie isn't an awful comparison. Obviously, there are HUGE differences. It's not as sophomoric or done for cheap laughs, but can be uncomfortable.
The onstage masturbation (Jonathan Wright) lasts only a couple of minutes.
What song?
Who is doing it (what character)?
The second part of My Junk. It's Jonathan B. Wright who plays Hanschen
Yeah. Okay. I just don't know what to do.
I was thinking about buying the tickets separately. 2 for my parents together. One for me alone.
I don't know though.
I think SPRING AWAKENING is probably out of the question. I just can't sit through a masturbation scene with my parents. I just don't know.
americanboy99, your parents are probably "cooler" than you give them credit for.
I'll talk about it with them.

If it wasn't for the parents, I'd say SA for sure. Avenue Q comes to mind, but I think there would be some of the same issues, and you have probably already seen it. ACL could be a good choice, but it depends...
AmericanBoy, why dont' you tell us what you have already seen?
Les Mis, Drowsy Chaperone, Xanadu, Spring Awakening, Curtains, A Chorus Line, Hairspray...
You really do have a few choices.
